One of the more popular attractions, the Great Movie Ride has a very large queueing area, which starts outside, and continues through a relatively large lobby area inside the building itself.
The ride concludes with the farewell scene from Casablanca, followed by a final classic scene from The Wizard of Oz.
Overall it's not a particularly thrilling ride, but it is one of the classic Disney Studios attractions, and is worth seeing.

There are great AA's from classic movies such as: Footlight Parade, Singing in the Rain, Marry Poppins, Alien, Indiana Jones, Tarzan, Cassablanca, Fantasia, and the Wizard of Oz.
The Great Movie Ride is a classic MGM attraction, but I was too young to understand and appreciate it.
I recommend this ride for people ages 12 and up, as anyone younger may be bored to death, or possibly may not be able to appreciate it to its fullest.

What you see next nowadays in "The Great Movie Ride" is that "Sorcerer's Apprentice" sequence from "Fantasia." You know, where Sorcerer Mickey uses the magical hat that he "borrowed" from the wizard Yensid to control the cosmos.
FYI: It's also important to understand that the guys from WDI originally put an awful lot of thought into what moments went where in "The Great Movie Ride." That's why it's not a co-incidence that that scene in "Casablanca" comes right before where the tornado sequence from "The Wizard of Oz" was supposed to go.

Movies have real people with real faces for the audience to see, while books can be vague and allow the reader to paint the character any way that speaks to them.
Movies have music to guide or follow the action so that the audience is drawn in more, but books can use the music of words in narrative forms movies can’t really use and books can give us the thoughts of a character without the distractions of disembodied voices.
A movie has to make its message tighter and clearer than a book because it only has it’s audience’s attention for the two hours or so they are in the theatre.

The only bad part of the ride was that we had a bunch of noisy teenagers and could barely hear any of the narration or music.
At the end of the ride, we found Grant and J.D. and decided to walk on the Pangani Forest trail which was neat to see and learn about different animals.

Right now, JK Rowling still has the theme park rights (unless of course she gave them to a park already and it just hasn't been announced yet....as to why a park may have not announced it yet, there are a lot of reasons).
However, if they wanted to use the LotR or HP clips in the movie they would have had to pay Warner Brothers (and I'm sure that it would have cost Disney a lot, even if WB was willing to give Disney the rights).
Seriously, Disney has to be careful with their marketing of this movie, because as you know the book is an allegory of the story of Jesus' death and ressurection.

The Great Movie ride is an average attraction that will be enjoyed by older adults and seniors because most of the movies featured are older classics.
Kids on the ride while we were there did not seem to enjoy the ride that much.
It takes you through scenes from several classic movies including Casablanca, Indiana Jones, The Wizard of Oz, Alien, Western Shoot Outs etc. It is a calm ride but some of the rooms can be a bit scary for kids, but you go through each scene quickly.

This impressive structure at the end of the boulevard houses one of the best rides in the Studios, the Great Movie Ride.
You are transported right into the middle of movie scenes from some of Disney's and MGM's greatest classics.
Go see the Great Movie Ride during an early morning of the first hour the park is open or wait until late in the evening or check out the wait during the parade if you have already seen it.
