The now dominant narrative about the right's rise to power holds that conservatives invested huge amounts of money in a number of think tanks over the past thirty years and brilliantly framed their messages in ways that were simple and resonated deeply with much of the American public.
In the 1970s, as the New Right emerged from the discredited old right, a fragile truce was drawn among libertarians, economic conservatives, social conservatives and neoconservatives.

"Greater Wrong of the Right" is still heavy on the electronic/synth music, and much of it is very mysterious ("Goneja" is one particularly creepy number), but many of the songs (especially "I'mmortal") have rhythms which are really catchy.
Many (probably most) longtime fans/diehards will be appalled and alienated by the band's new accessible sound, but, with "Greater Wrong of the Right," Skinny Puppy seem destined for bigger and better things--like expanding their listener fanbase.

The Puppy's first studio album in eight years, "The Greater Wrong of the Right" is a credible but generally unsurprising attempt to catch up with the twosome's former imitators.
"The Greater Wrong of the Right" revisits previous Puppy strategies, but also experiments with such related styles as British garage-rap, notably on "Goneja." More shockingly, some of the songs are actually melodic: "EmpTe" and especially "Past Present" mix strident synths with stately keyboard lines and catchy chorales in the manner of mid-'80s Depeche Mode.
Puppy founders n.Ogre and cEvin Key are still cranky, of course, but even their rage seems a bit backdated: "Neuwerld" mocks a geopolitical phrase, "new world order," associated not with the current U.S. president but with his dad.

The Greater Wrong of the Right is 21st century Skinny Puppy, and this album is exactly as it should be, electronically diverse yet simple and definitive.
For example, the first two tracks, "I'mmortal" and "Pro-test" are reminiscent of the ohGr project, but aside from that, the rest of the album treads down the path that has made the band as unforgettable as they are.
In the end, The Greater Wrong of the Right is another notch of brilliance on an untouchable career.

Formed in the mid-80s by three Vancouver art students, this elite techno band helped pave the way for the entire industrial sound, with heavy grooves and lyrics that condemn animal experimentation, political corruption and basically anything else that’s stupidly cruel.
The Bush-neocon administration was the target of their vitriol in their 2004 The Greater Wrong of the Right album, and their live show, as captured here, is a direct slap in the face of those who still believe America is on the right track.
For this tour, Ogre doesn’t walk around the stage on stilts (can’t blame him for that, since Marilyn Manson stole that bit from them, along with half their musical style), but he still does the shtick where he pours fake blood all over himself.
