The Harvard Crimson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Harvard Crimson, the breakfast daily of Harvard University, was founded in 1873.
Crimson alumni include Presidents John F. Kennedy of the Class of 1940 and Franklin D. Roosevelt (who served as president of the newspaper), Class of 1904.
The Crimson included more substance in the 1880s, as the paper's editors were more eager to engage in a quality of journalism like that of muckraking big-city newspapers; it was at this time that the paper moved first from a biweekly to a weekly, and then to a daily in 1883.

Harvard University - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Harvard has the world's fourth largest library collection (after the Library of Congress, the British Library, and the University of California), and the largest financial endowment of any academic institution, standing at $25.9 billion as of 2005, and the second largest endowment for a non-profit organization behind only the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Harvard has a friendly rivalry with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology which dates back to 1900, when a merger of the two schools was frequently mooted and at one point officially agreed upon (ultimately canceled by Massachusetts courts).
Harvard is governed by two boards, the President and Fellows of Harvard College, also known as the Harvard Corporation and founded in 1650, and the Harvard Board of Overseers.

At the Treasury Department, Summers found himself at the center of a centrist administration, preaching the gospel of balanced budgets while pointing to the benefits of government action where it would be effective.
Summers came to Harvard with the scars of a veteran of the administration that conservatives loved to hate and solidly progressive credentials.
And given Harvard's norms are on average more liberal than conservative, such questioning means Summers will at times play the role conservatives ask of him.

But he also reports that Harvard students are more broad in their academic interests and are eager to get to know him.

Harvard Crimson loses suit - News   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
The Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled against The Harvard Crimson - the student newspaper of Harvard University - last Friday in its plea to force Harvard to release police incident reports upon the paper's request.
Although the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) has state-granted powers, such as the ability to make arrests, the Court's decision was based on the grounds that the university is a private institution and the police department is a private police force not necessarily subject to the same laws as a public force.
The Crimson had based its case on a belief that because the HUPD has "special state police powers" it is thus a public entity.

Harvard Crimson Editorial On Ogletree's Plagiarism   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
However, while admitting to some fault for his carelessness, Ogletree maintains that the text's inclusion was an oversight due, in part, to strict deadlines and a strong reliance on research assistants.
The bottom line remains that had a Harvard student committed such a grievous error, intentionally or not, the College would likely turn a deaf ear to any excuses-particularly any that involve an over-reliance on paid assistants to do their research and writing for them.
If Harvard is not willing to hold its Faculty to the same high scholarly standards as it does its students, then perhaps it should rethink its undergraduate plagiarism policy and do away with the charade of irreproachable academic integrity.

Quarterback Chris Pizzotti, who ran the first-team offense, completed 20 of 40 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns, while Harvard also had a 100-yard rusher and a 100-yard receiver in the game, which marked the end of the team's spring practice sessions.
