The buzz around The Hellacopters and their quickly growing resume translated into a deal with Sweden's White Jazz Records, who released the band's debut full-length, Supershitty to the Max, in 1996.
By this time, The Hellacopters were widely hailed as Sweden's best rock outfit, and they would not lose sight of that as they went into the studio to record By the Grace of God.
The resulting Rock and Roll Is Dead was recorded in The Hellacopters' hometown of Stockholm at Atlantis Studios with longtime producer Chips Kiesbye (Millencolin, Sahara Hotnights) and engineers Michael Ilbert (from the Hives and Supergrass to Celine Dion and the Backstreet Boys) and Janne Hansson (from ABBA to Sonic Youth).

 KNAC.COM - Reviews - Hellacopters
Luckily for the Hellacopters though, a band that kicks it out as hard as they do doubtlessly must have the rock gods shining down on them in some form, so here’s hoping they managed to avoid this potentially problematic situation with the head of the School of Rock.
They may not be representing metal or thrash or punk or garage music exactly, but the flag this band flies is somehow even more important-the belief that rock music can transcend time and mood and essentially become the auditory backdrop for the memorable moments that become one’s life.
I just don't know where to start with some of the comments here, but I will try to keep the vocabulary simple, because judging from the spelling mistakes in some of the previous "rants" I'm dealing with some people who are fairly ignorant, and choose not to read on a regular basis.

Over the course of ten albums in as many years, the Stockholm-natives have always championed an MC5-type fury with their live shows, being equal parts kick-out-the-jams hellaciousness and rock and roll revival.
But empty rock strut and swagger they’re not, because the Hellacopters have the musicianship—as well as the hooks—to back it all up.
Rock & Roll Is Dead sports excellent performances from guitarists Robert Dahlqvist and guitarist/singer Nicke Andersson, as they lay down the rock with authority, all without the use of saccharine-laced layers of distortion (gasp), over-effected vocals, or de-tuned riffs.
