 Cameron Highlanders, Harry Payne
The Cameron highlander military print is part of the Harry Payne British Regiments of the Victorian era, published by Cranston Fine Arts, the military print company.
Mr A Cameron, of Erracht, raised this regiment in 1793, and one peculiarity of its origin is that, from some pledge stated to have bee given by the sovereign at the time, it could not "be drafted or disbanded".
Private Donald Cameron of the regiment was the first "to mount the parapet, and the second to fall".

Earlier this year, the invitation was extended by the Cape Town Highlanders to the SA Irish to provide pipers for the 2002 Golden Jubilee Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Finally, July 27 dawned, and after competing in the Championship Finals, we meandered off to the airport, met up with the contingent from 1 Medical Battalion who were also forming part of Cape Town Highlanders, and said our emotional farewells to loved ones and friends.
While we were, at the time, right in the middle of a VERY compressed and stressful competition season, we managed to find time to have a few Tattoo practices at various homes, which were more often than not occasions of great hilarity.

 Archives, Museums and other Heritage Resources - The Nova Scotia Highlanders Regimental Museum
Open to the public, the museum houses a vast collection of military artifacts and displays that tell the historical story of the Nova Scotia Highlanders from their beginnings as the Cumberland Highlanders to their present day status.
By preserving the regimental history, we are increasing public awarness of the part played by the Nova Scotia Highlanders in times of war and peace.
The museum, which had been in operation as an unofficial capacity since 1986, and was granted accrediation status as a Military Museum on April 26, 1989 by the Canadian Forces Museum Committee Ottawa.

Our Commanding Officer commanded the British Highland Brigade at the 175th and the 180th BATTLE OF WATERLOO Anniversary Reenactments in Belgium in 1990 and 1995, is Acting Adjutant of the North America British Brigade-Napoleonic Association, and is Commander of the "Worldwide" Highland Brigade/1815.
The Unit has received letters of appreciation from The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, The Clan Sutherland Societies of North America & Scotland, and Her Majesty The Queen (Colonel- In- Chief of the A & S H).
In 1881 the 93rd was amalgamated with the 91st Argyll Highlanders and became The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, as they are known today.

The regiment as at present constituted was formed by the amalgamation in 1881 of the old 78th or Seaforth's Highlanders, later the 72nd Highlanders (Duke of Albany's Own), and the 78th or Ross-shire Buffs.
The old 78th was raised in 1778 by the Earl of Seaforth and was designated "Seaforth's Highlanders" and numbered the 78th Regiment.
In 1961 the Seaforth Highlanders were amalgamated with the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders.

Queen's Own Highlanders were an amalgamation of three of the famous Highland regiments raised in the late 18th Century; The 72nd Highlanders (Duke of Albany's Own), The 78th Highlanders (Ross-shire Buffs) and the 79th Cameron Highlanders, who became Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders in 1873.
The 72nd Highlanders were originally numbered for the 78th Highlanders, they were recruited by the Earl of Seaforth mainly from Ross-shire and Lewis, and first mustered at Elgin in 1778.
On 7 February 1961 the Seaforth Highlanders and The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders were amalgamated to form the Queen's Own Highlanders (Seaforth, and Camerons).

 Scottish Military Historical Society - Summary
The NSHB was a composite World War One brigade of the 85th, 193rd, 219th, and 246th, Nova Scotia Highlanders, 185th Cape Breton Highlanders, 67th Western Scots, 96th Canadian Highlanders, 113th Lethbridge Highlanders, 194th Edmonton Highlanders, and the 253rd QueenÂ’s University Highlanders of the Canadian Expeditionary Force and was disbanded after 1918.
The name of Calgary Highlanders took place seven years later although the 1st Battalion was designated the Calgary Highlanders and in 1924, the regiment was split in two with the 1st Battalion staying the Highlanders and the 2nd Battalion being known as the Calgary Regiment.
In 1954, the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, the Pictou Highlanders (Motor) and the 89th Light Anti-Aircraft Battery were amalgamated to form the 1st Battalion, Nova Scotia Highlanders.

August 19th found the 48th and the rest of the 1st Division on “Exercise Exterminate” while the 2nd Canadian Division was fighting for its life on the Beaches of Dieppe.
He was awarded the Military Medal and seriously wounded while serving with the Argyles in Normandy.) The 48th entrained that evening for the journey to Scotland.
Major Johnston's promotion to Lt-Colonel came through on the 5th of May and he was appointed Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion 48th Highlanders of Canada.
