Amazon.com: Billie Holiday's Greatest Hits (Decca): Music: Billie Holiday   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-16)
Holiday's in fine vocal form (though her accompaniment is undistinguished easy-listening stuff; the choir on "God Bless the Child" is a bit frustrating), and the songs are arranged to work as an album rather than chronologically.
I you have just discovered Billie Holiday and you want to listen to some of her best renditions then this album isn't a bad place to start.
Holiday's knack of hitting those notes like a human trumpet (a trick which might not sound appealing, but has to be heard to be believed) is showcased brilliantly on 'Them There Eyes'.

This reissue of the EP entered the UK charts on February 6 1982 and peaked at Number 46 during its five-week chart run.

Northampton, Massachusetts band No Shadow-Kick's holiday six-song promotional EP is a short but diverse introduction to the band's style.
The opening track "In the Snow", the only holiday song on the EP, is a holiday song for those unable to always muster up the expected amount of festive spirit.
The EP's final song, "The Saviour Made Me Do It", is a rocker complemented by powerful yet subdued guitars and is complete with the hilariously pathetic sounds of a televangelist's pleas for more money for his ministry.

From London, England comes The Dead on Holiday.
While at first I was put off by their glossy, radio-friendly rock style, their music is actually very enjoyable.
Their sound is surprisingly fresh, though they need to make an important decision: are they going to go for the bland, glossy radio sound that they exhibited on "Venus Punch," or are they going to stick with the more enjoyable, indie sound that characterizes the more successful, latter songs?

Cokemachineglow.com : Bottom of the Hudson: Holiday Machine EP
Bottom of the Hudson are fairly content to fit the mid-fi indie rock bill: Eli Simon’s weary plain-man’s vocals mesh easily and melancholically with his unrushed, fuzzed, jangly arrangements.
The delicacy of “Riot Act”’s opening passage, which eventually gains weight and heart with a pulsing rhythm, is something to marvel at, with its beautiful errant piano keys wandering in between plucked guitar strings.
It’s a shame that these brighter moments have dull, merely passable material to accompany them, because they might tempt one to say that Bottom of the Hudson have some serious forward looking potential.

Holiday, the second track on the EP, sees Katie handle the vocals and the result is perhaps the slowest, softest, and most beautiful george tune to be recorded yet.

To conclude the EP, Holiday has been reworked and, in the process, has lost all traces of guitar and drums, leaving just Katie’s voice and a string section.

Simplifying during the holidays can be an especially hard task for EPs because they value both their family life and professional life so highly.

The festive tune that made Clashing Plaid holiday heroes was written about seven years ago when the band first got together, and the group has rereleased it on a holiday EP every year since 1998.
The band’s brand new EP showcases a little bit of everything the guys have to offer — it’s a little bit punky, but it’s got bluesy stuff in there too — and gives listeners a sample of the group’s punk rock-influenced roots and rock-and-roll heart and soul.
This year’s traditional holiday EP is a little bit different than what the band has put out other years, however, because it features three new songs in addition to the EP’s sanctioned holiday jam.

The last song on the EP is a cover of The Beatles "You Know My Name." If you are familiar with the original version, and cherish it as I do, you won't be disappointed.
Sutrobath has done an incredible job not only capturing the spirit of fun in which the original was recorded, but they have also added their own signature of 1990's (or should that be 2000's?) Alt-AAA-Rock, and have stamped their easily recognizable sound in just the right places.
Like Spirit of the Audio, The Holiday EP is a must have for anyone who appreciates finely crafted, expertly performed music.
