Hollywood Knights is the first major film for Tony Danza, Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Wuhl, all of whom would go on to achieve their own individual stardom.
This film basically has no plot save for the fact that Tubby's Drive-in is shutting down and the Hollywood Knights converge there for one last hurrah.

Review of The Hollywood Knights (DVD)
It centers around a car club called the Hollywood Knights, who hang out around a drive-in restaurant that is to be permanently closed the next day, and demolished to make way for an office complex.
The Knights, you see, are not popular in the neighborhood, due to the infantile behavior they constantly exhibit, and this is how the neighborhood elders plant to deal with them.
The Knights never go out without a fight, though, and make this last night a memorable one by pulling every imaginable type of childish prank, from hiding in ladies' rooms to urinating in party punch.

In tribute to the last night of their favorite hangout, a Beverly Hills drive-in marked for destruction by the snooty Chamber of Commerce, the gang's court jester Newbomb Turk (Robert Wuhl in his film debut) leads the Knights in an all-out assault on the forces of law and order, conformity, and good taste.
Nestled in the parade of toilet humor, fart jokes, mooning rebels, and topless co-eds, however, are the ruminations of the end of an era: the times they are a changin'.

A tasteless rip-off of American Graffiti (Universal, 1973), Hollywood Knights was a raucous non-starter whose funniest moment had four members of a college fraternity urinating into a punch bowl.
Set on Halloween night in 1965, the film divided itself into several sub-plots in order to disguise the feebleness of a story line which involved a group of teenagers taking revenge on the elders of Beverly Hills for closing down the suburb's only drive-in eatery.
Hollywood Knights starred Tony Danza and Michelle Pfeiffer (in their feature film debuts), Fran 'Nanny' Drescher, Leigh French, Randy Gornel and Robert Wuhl.

The Hollywood Knights | The Onion - America's Finest News Source
One of a slew of early-'80s American Graffiti knockoffs, 1980's recently reissued The Hollywood Knights follows the titular motorcycle club as it engages in randy mischief on Halloween night, 1965.
In addition to Wuhl and his perfunctory band of troublemakers, Knights also includes such coming-of-age-movie staples as the Vietnam-bound graduate (Gary Graham), the college-bound lug (Tony Danza), and the requisite gaggle of adults, on hand to provide an endless supply of eye-bugging, head-slapping reaction shots.
A groundbreaking work of crass stupidity, The Hollywood Knights didn't kill off the nostalgic teen-sex romp—Porky's followed two years later—but it probably should have.

UW English Professor Susan Aronstein is studying how that legend has gone Hollywood.
Aronstein, who specializes in Middle English literature and Arthurian Romance, has spent much of the last decade writing a book about American films that have recycled versions of the Arthurian legend, particularly during periods of cultural crisis.
Aronstein says the book, Hollywood Knights: Arthurian Cinema and the Politics of Nostalgia, examines how those films perpetuate and justify American's vision of itself as a Camelot, "divinely charged" with protecting and disseminating freedom and democracy.

The DVD Journal | Quick Reviews: The Hollywood Knights
Every generation remembers the time they grew up in with fondness and nostalgia, and it isn't surprising then that filmmakers often want to capture the good times of years past in the movies they make and let everyone in on their own particular adolescent memories.
But while a late-night TV favorite for many years now, The Hollywood Knights is a cross between the overplayed soundtrack of American Graffiti and the juvenile hijinks of Porkys (minus the T 'n' A), as Newbomb and his gang just go from one hijink to another, most of which are inane and illogical.
Yet fans of The Hollywood Knights will enjoy Columbia TriStar's new DVD edition, with a digitally remastered print (1.85:1 or pan-and scan) that looks good for a low-budget film from this era, and audio in DD 5.1, Dolby Surround 2.0, or the original mono.

A funny thing happened when the 2006 - 2007 fall season premiered: I declared “The Knights of Prosperity” - formerly known as “Let’s Rob Mick Jagger” - to be the funniest new comedy of the season…and it was promptly removed from the schedule, with its premiere pushed back to January.
And, then, a not-very-funny-at-all thing happened right before the January premiere of “The Knights of Prosperity”: my father-in-law died unexpectedly, resulting in my life going topsy-turvy and my totally losing track of the fact that the show had premiered until after both the first and second episodes had been aired.
This was my favorite comedy of the 2006 fall season, and I’m PISSED that it’s taking it so long to emerge…mostly because ABC decided to put such a huge promotional push behind the excruciating “Ugly Betty” that “The Knights of Prosperity” was going to be lost in the shuffle.
