Construction Company.com - Historic Construction Project: Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam was built by a construction company called Six Companies Inc, which was actually a consortium of several companies: Morrison-Knudsen Co., Utah Construction Co., J. Shea Co., Pacific Bridge Co., MacDonald and Kahn Ltd. and a joint venture of W. Bechtel Co., Henry J. Kaiser, and Warren Brothers.
The reason these construction companies got together was simple: no single construction company could raise the $5 million needed to secure the performance bond.
To make matters worse, Six Companies used gasoline-powered trucks in the tunnel, something that had never been done before in underground mining, so carbon monoxide was added to the heat, dust, and fumes from the blasting.

THE HOOVER COMPANY v. ROYAL APPLIANCE MG. CO.
Hoover began opposition proceedings on November 23, 1994, contending that Royal’s mark was likely to cause confusion with Hoover’s unregistered mark, "Number One in Floorcare," and that Royal’s mark, "The First Name in Floorcare," is deceptive or deceptively misdescriptive.
Hoover, as the party opposing registration on the basis of likelihood of confusion with its own mark, must establish that "Number One in Floorcare" is distinctive of its goods either inherently or through the acquisition of secondary meaning.
Hoover argues that the slogan "Number One in Floorcare" is inherently distinctive because it uniquely identifies a single source, the number one ranked source of floorcare goods, which Hoover alleges itself to be.
