Nothing about this says "first album." Except for the slower, more melodic fourth and last tracks, which I think detract slightly from the overall disc (one anthem would have sufficed), Demon Hunter is an excellent album, in my opinion.
Demon Hunter are kind of dark and creepy, with lines like, "Life is our path, and death our destination," and song titles like "My Throat is an Open Grave," but they don't share Slipknot's angry, something-to-prove attitude.
The Demon Hunter, on the other hand, I had received in October and set aside to savor after taking care of other, more doubtful review CDs.

Right out of the gate, Demon Hunter explodes with the bombastic, blasting opening track "Screams For The Undead," where their vocalist (who is nameless) introduces the band to the world with his Corey Taylor-esque screams during the verse into cleans singing on the chorus.
Demon Hunter definitely fits into the "nu-metal" category, but don't let that name fool you.
This one really came out of left field, because up until about two months ago, no one had even heard of Demon Hunter, and to this day, no one has any idea just who the hell they are.

While not outrightly stated, the main nucleus of Demon Hunter seems to be Don and Ryan Clark of Training For Utopia fame, and their maturity and talent from their time spent in that outfit thoroughly punctuate this release.
While this outing would instinctively be the prime opportunity for Demon Hunter to establish their own identity, the incorporation of so many guest spots almost works against such a goal.
Demon Hunter 's self-titled debut album came out under seemingly questionable circumstances.

DEMON HUNTER is a great band and they deserve to be respected in a music industy without a lot of christian bands.
I am anti-religious, loath and dispise christians...but still just because demon hunters members are christian doesn't change the fact that there music and lyrics are awesome and everyone should listen to them, and I don't agree that you should just stop listening to them due to their religion.
Demon Hunter is and musically an awsome band, like slipknot, slayer, and some others..

 Drum, Music, and Game Reviews
This album is no different, although, ironically, the two songs that have the most simple interplay between light and dark are, for me, the two highlights.
My favorite song on the album is 'Bite the bullet' its got kind of a violent sort of sound to it but not tacky like some of the new stuff that comes out normally has.
The album as a whole, thanks to great sequencing and the concept, is even greater than the sum of its parts.

 Demon Hunter: Summer of Darkness
Though relentlessly dark, Demon Hunter's lyrics are definitely spiritual, and far more poetic than most of their peers' hate-filled diatribes.
Since before Demon Hunter even released their 2002 debut, the underground metal scene has been buzzing about the band, and it's easy to understand why.
Impressively, Demon Hunter can also move very capably in the other direction, as on "My Heartstrings Come Undone." A Linkin Park-ish beat-and-keyboard section introduces the track, which features picked guitars, clean vocals, and - of all things - a tambourine, but somehow it works together to craft a memorable song.

Demon Hunter stays true to their sound while making it somewhat accessible to more listens by adding a bit of a melodic edge…
Still, if you didn’t dig Demon Hunter’s first try, you won’t find much to like about this one either.
We received a pre-release of Demon Hunter’s sophomore effort, Summer of Darkness.

The original vocals that made up the majority of Demon Hunter is still there, but the softer vocals are used more often (mostly in the choruses) which makes SOD a more meldodic, and in my opinion, memorable, disc.
On Demon Hunter's last album, it was a whole lot of screams mixed with great riffs.
If you listen to the album, I think you'll find (as I have) that the whole of Summer of Darkness is binded in structure but each song is quite diverse from the next.

The final tracks of the album show Demon Hunter are capable of trying something new.
Demon Hunter fit well within the nu-metal genre, but at the same time incorporates a touch of thrash and death metal.
Regardless of who’s in the group, the strength of the music on their debut album is nothing short of brutal.

Demon Hunter is a band that has potential and this is only their first album.
demon hunter rules, and truly tears back the skin and brings to light the failures of man and the ever triumphant truth of God.

ASPB Past Events: Charlie Hunter Quartet -- May 9, 1996
They debuted in 1994 with a self-titled album (Charlie Hunter Trio) and released a follow-up album, "Bing, Bing, Bing!" on the prestigious Blue Note imprint.
The Charlie Hunter Quartet is at the forefront of the Bay Area's new jazz renaissance and has brought the young into the jazz realm.
Hunter says he's most influenced by his "golden days of listening to music from the '60s to mid-70s." The variety of music he listened to (crossing traditional genre boundaries) led to Hunter's own style of urban jazz.

Charlie Hunter Trio by Charlie Hunter Trio
Charlie Hunter, former member of the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, serves notice that he will be a major player in the modern jazz scene in the '90s and beyond.
The Hunter gospel is spoken from the outset with "Fred's Life," a quick, groove-laden track that is highlighted by the horn work of Ellis.
On this initial solo effort, Hunter masterfully plays the seven-string guitar (two bass strings, five guitar strings), and is joined by David Ellis (tenor sax) and Jay Lane (drums), who is himself a former member of Claypool's band, Primus.

Charlie Hunter Trio : Albums : Bing, Bing, Bing!
By using an extra string, Hunter is able to create his own basslines and have a very self-sufficient bassless (and keyboardless) trio with tenor-saxophonist Dave Ellis and drummer Jay Lane that has all of the parts covered.
It is difficult not to be impressed with the playing of guitarist Charlie Hunter.

RIFTrock.com - THE ROCK MUSIC COMMUNITY
Although they may call themselves a Christian metal band, Demon Hunter isn’t a band that you would be able to pinpoint with that concept on either of their albums.
Take their debut album’s best track, “Infected,” multiply it by 10 and that is where most of the songs on the new album rank.
Instead the band sticks to the fast track and keeps both of their records moving with solidly founded concepts and an enormous amount of creativity all placed in a single album.

 Interview with Demon Hunter
Demon Hunter hit the scene a couple years ago with an incredible marketing campaign with Solid State Records.
It all comes down to the individual, and I’m not saying to walk on thin ice, because I know not everyone agrees that Demon Hunter is a good thing, but people need to be more careful about what they do when they’re being seen and heard and followed by other people.

 Demon Hunter- Summer of Darkness
It’s a huge, heavy album that brings melodic choruses and places them in the middle of a hurricane of destructive guitar work.
- A very heavy album in the vain of Sepultura’s sludgefest Roots.
- 13 songs… that just doesn’t happen these days… unless it’s a rap album.

The album, near the end had a band that I had never heard of before called Demon Hunter.
This song is different than most of the other stuff on the album, but it still may have a tendency to blend into the background if you aren’t listening to it.
Once again this chorus is one of the better ones on the album, and it has a very catchy hook to it that you’ll probably find yourself singing until you get to the next song…and that is only because the next song is by far the best track on the album.

Punk International: Review / Demon Hunter: Summer of Darkness
If you're like me and wish the heat would just go away so you can stop sweating through all those black clothes you refuse to stop wearing, this may be the summer album for you: Demon Hunter's sophomore album for Solid State Records, "Summer of Darkness".
This side of the band will probably help Demon Hunter ease into the mainstream metal crowd used to brutality in the verses paired with sing-along jingles in the verses.
On the other hand, they also have this tendency to break into melodic song, especially in the choruses, which gives the album something of a nu-metal taste.

Although this band's sound is not exactly my preferred taste, after a couple of listens I found their album to be quite enjoyable.
However, altogether this is a pretty solid and energetic album.
The album has a very hard and intense sound.

Demon Hunter Is finally coming into their own sound with this album.
A good deal of it is "screaming"/"roaring," but there are a good deal of songs on this album that are actually very melodic as well.

dbpowerAMP - Band Review: Demon Hunter
Infected is from their Debut self-titled album "Demon Hunter" (2002) and Not Ready To Die is off their follow-up "Summer of Darkness" (2004).
Really it's pretty rare to have a second album from a new Metal Band these days that doesn't get label manufacturing syndrome (see also: interference from record executives which turns art into crap.) in hopes of boosting sales.
I've looked through all the lyrics and listened to the album multiple times since picking up, and I haven't heard/read any cursing on the album at all.

demon hunter are a cross between black metal and nu metal which means they are at times heavy, and at times not so heavy.
The album is a mix of heavy riffs, eerie bass and awesome drums which creates some of the best Black/NuMetal i've ever heard.

 Charlie Hunter: A jazz-hop, eight-string wonder
Soon after, Hunter was signed to Blue Note where he has recorded three superb albums, Bing, Bing Bing!, Ready...Set...Shango and last year's Natty Dread raggaae cover disc, all piloted by noted Berkeley producer Lee Townsend, who was also at the helm for the latest release.
Hunter smiles and wisecracks, "Because we wanted to have a creepy picture of a clown on the cover." Sure enough, the clown artwork is eerily arresting.
Hunter, who recently uprooted himself from his Berkeley homebase to settle into new digs in Brooklyn, also led T.J. Kirk, a three-guitar (and one drummer) group that mixed-and-matched the music of Thelonious Monk, James Brown and Rahsaan Roland Kirk into a high-voltage jazz-meets-rock amalgam.

After two albums with a trio and a side project with the rugged cover band T.J. Kirk, Hunter has expanded his outfit to a quartet for "Ready.
Those unfamiliar with Hunter, especially pop fans, should approach his work sideways and start with T.J. Kirk as well as the Charlie Hunter Trio's first album on Prawn Song.
Charlie Hunter is a prime exponent of a generation finally free of the old jazz-guitar hangups.
