  NBA.com: Larry Bird Bio
Bird's legend was born in the tiny town of French Lick, snuggled in Indiana's corn country, where his family led a spartan life.
In 1981-82, Bird made the first of his three consecutive appearances on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team-even though he was relatively slow and not the greatest one-on-one defender, his anticipation and court sense made him peerless as a team defender.
Bird's scoring average soared to 28.7 points in 1984-85, the second-highest mark in the league and the second highest of his career.

The bird flu virus is found in the saliva, nasal secretions, and feces of an infected bird.
However, during an outbreak of bird flu among poultry, including domesticated chicken, ducks, and turkeys, there is a possible risk to people who have contact with infected birds or surfaces that have been contaminated with excretions from infected birds.

Leucism can be caused by genetics, when a bird is programmed to produce less melanin and other pigments, or can be caused by poor nutrition, when a bird’s diet doesn’t include necessary components for pigment production when it molts into new feathers.
Few birds are pure white—most very white species, including Whooping Cranes, Snow Geese, white pelicans, and most gulls, have fl wingtips, the fl pigment strengthening the part of the wing that gets the heaviest wear.
Some species are pretty fussy about their mates looking precisely like their parents, but a great many birds accept a partial albino or a leucistic bird as a mate, as long as its behavior indicates it’s healthy and strong.

FAQs - Bird Spikes Bird Repellents Offer Humane Bird Control To Get Rid Of Birds
The resident birds that are nesting will work very hard to squeeze their way in between the spikes and may manage to do so by sheer force of will.
In these cases, it is only necessary to install bird spikes on the outer edge of the parapet wall (with about a ½ inch overhang of the bird spikes on outer edge of the ledge).
This bird deterrent’s base can be glued to the surface using Bird Barrier Bond (available in on-line ordering) or attached securely with twine or zip ties so the bird spikes remain upright to prevent problem birds from landing.

Birds must be profitable for these stores and this is where bird mart abuses have their most damaging effect.
Bird marts should be an opportunity for aviculturists, to sell their birds at retail prices, to meet other breeders, to exchange breeding stock as well as ideas, and most of all, to promote aviculture.

For "Mission: Impossible," director Brian De Palma (an odd choice, considering all the gory films in his mostly R-rated filmography, most famously "The Untouchables") also has three elaborate action set-pieces — a suspenseful caper set at a posh party, an intense break-in at CIA headquarters in Langley, Va....

The Impossible Bird by Patrick O'Leary - an infinity plus review
Not all of Wells's followers have had the skill and determination to imagine aliens that so deftly combine a profound sense of otherness with a pertinent resonance.
He creates a truly unusual scenario of alien invasion, conjures extraterrestrials that are unlike anything on Earth, and spins a tale in which his aliens and their plot become inseparable from his thematic concerns.
The Impossible Bird is an empathic meditation on the love between two brothers: once promised as unshakeable, then forgotten, and finally reaffirmed.

Aliens gone awry and missing literary characters
The Impossible Bird (Tor; 368 pages; $25.95) marks his return to the kind of trippy, humanistic science fiction that distinguished his first novel, "Door Number Three."
For a while, "The Impossible Bird" seems disconcertingly without rhyme or reason, merely a series of strange events recycled from TV's "X-Files." But as O'Leary gradually reveals the rationale behind the experiences of the Brothers Glynn, the novel raises a host of disturbing questions and displays its utter originality.
But "The Impossible Bird" takes his craft to a new level.
