The comic has sparked widespread coverage in the international press, and although it is currently only scheduled for release in Colombia and Poland, publishers in Mexico, Canada, and the United States have expressed interest in the book.

This all seems a little peculiar, but at least it’s better than the send-off the New York Press almost gave the Pope a few weeks ago.

The artist worried some people might be offended by such a revered figure becoming a comic book hero, but said the reception so far has been good.
As for the Popeman thing…that’s kind of weird,although we have BibleMan here.He fights evil by quoting Scripture.It’s cute.
I think the whole Popeman thing is an insult.

Along with the spiffy outfit featured to the left (with "anti-devil cape and chastity pants"), the Incredible Popeman's toolbelt comes equipped with holy water, communion wine and a Bible.
According to the Reuters article, the artist also plans "to produce Incredible Popeman action dolls." I'd like to make a few suggestions:

Something in the Inquirer caught my eye today, in a story about the late John Paul's track to sainthood: a crimson-costumed man surrounded by superheroes and bishops.

In fact, Robert Kirkman's Battle Pope could kick Popeman's ass any day.
