Skinny's Music - Psycroptic "The Scepter Of The Ancients" Review
Psycroptic has followed up their 2001 debut ‘Isle Of Disenchantment’ with a release that surpasses all expectations.
While I’m sure Psycroptic have made every effort to produce the best album they could with what can only be assumed was a moderate budget (Such is the bane of all independently produced albums), Cameron Grant’s bass can barely be heard over the whole course of the album.
Pickiness aside though (And really, it was a personal opinion rather than a general fault with the album as such), Psycroptic are sure to make further headway into the international metal scene with ‘The Scepter Of The Ancients’, and in the process be hailed as one of the best Australian black metal bands to date.

Album Review PSYCROPTIC-The Isle of Disenchantment :: Maelstrom :: Issue No 3
It's hard to believe that the members of Psycroptic are only around 20 years of age, and that The Isle of Disenchantment is a self-produced release, cause it sounds fucking great.

Blistering.com :: Music :: Reviews :: Psycroptic - The Scepter Of The Ancients
They released a jaw-dropping debut in the shape of The Isle of the Disenchantment, in the process showing up every small-time band toiling away in the shadows complaining about how they can’t afford to put out a decent album.
Relentless jackhammering is one thing, and Psycroptic do it just as well if not better than the rest — see ‘Skin Coffin’ and ‘Planetary Discipline’ for them at their grinding best — but this band is so much more than that.
The Scepter of The Ancients reaffirms Psycroptic’s position at the very peak of Australia’s extreme metal talent, and if this is any indication to go by, they’re far from running dry of ideas yet.
