God is infinitely jealous for the honor of his name, and responds with terrible wrath against those whose hearts should belong to him but go after other things.

 God as a "Jealous" God
God’s message was communicated by people, under the leadership of God, but in their own unique way (see Revelation and Inspiration of Scripture).
However, to the Israelites, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of the Exodus and the covenant, was not just another god, He was THE God.
To describe God as "jealous" was Israel's way of countering the polytheism of the surrounding peoples, and of proclaiming God as the only God deserving the love and allegiance of humanity.

Christians believe that [a] their God is "unchanging." They also believe that [b] their God is jealous, as mentioned explicitly in Exodus 20:5, and that [c] their God is also full of wrath and anger (numerous citations can be found in the Bible which support this).
Notwithstanding, God could learn from unquenchably miserable men and decide that suicide is the best option, and he'd only have to do it once, if he were successful.
By the mystic's own descriptions of God, which are intended to protect God from the critical scrutiny of non-believers and skeptics, the mystic has created a God who is already in the hell of its own making, a hell that never forgives, that never gives up its prisoners.

God is jealous because of Israel’s repeated infidelity with the gods of the nations.
Yet clearly God has not changed; rather we have, by His grace, through the righteousness of Jesus Christ (Rom.5), in which we are made “the righteousness of God.” God’s wrath is still operative in the world and His jealousy still provoked by the idolatrous “suppression of truth in wickedness”.

Chris Banescu - Book Review: A Jealous God - Science's crusade against religion
In A Jealous God, award-winning journalist Pamela R. Winnick exposes some of the more unsavory and dangerous characteristics of the scientific establishment that have contributed to the erosion of human dignity and led to the abuse of individuals for the sake of science.
By de-personalizing the subjects of their experiments, these scientists are able to divert attention from the human lives they are abusing and killing and shield themselves from the moral responsibilities and ethical implications of their actions.
A Jealous God exposes many instances where similar excuses have been used by scientists and academics in aggressively pursuing dangerous and deadly experiments on human subjects, fetuses, and embryos, forcibly mandating "fertility control" for "undesirables," and promoting eugenics, infanticide, and even euthanasia.
