A devoted fanbase grew, mostly drawn by the charismatic, eccentric, and sometimes out spoken (he proclaimed that Kula Shaker would be the biggest band in the world by the turn of last century) Crispian Mills.
If it wasn't for that fact that each member of this three-piece band play their respective instruments so damn well, The Jeevas could so easily be a 6th form band who have just discovered their Dads' old vinyl collection, and running with the one idea.
Ground breaking The Jeevas may not be, but there is no getting away from the fact that Crispian and his band do what they do so, so well.

The Jeevas are damn near the most perfect rock and roll band Britain has right now and the only band we have that can compete with the Vines and the Strokes.
There's no doubting it's going to be a hard struggle with the weight of the media fighting them all the way, but the truth is with the exception of the notorious statement, Mills was one of the few people in the Britpop scene who possessed a modicum of intelligence.
It's only at this point that the Jeevas are truly going to achieve the success they deserve and it would be a terrible shame if a band of this quality simply ended up with a cult following when they could be playing stadiums.

My favorites from the album are "The way you carry on" which has a bit of a T-Rex vibe to it, "I can't help myself" which has a catchy swagger, "Back Home" which is a sweet sad end of a relationship song, and ofcourse "Good man down" which totally rocks.

If in the past Crispian's musicaL touchstones had been the talsimanic trio of the post-Rishikesh Beatles, Deep Purple and the Small Faces, this time around he's entered into what was, for Kula Shaker, a self-imposed "Forbidden Zone".

rockfeedback.com - a new view on music - The Jeevas - 'Virginia' (Cowboy Musik)
Had Shed Seven's Rick Witter decided to reform Cast and embark upon a project in which the new band recorded an LP of Northern Uproar covers, they would still probably be perceived by the press as more credible than The Jeevas, ex-Kula Shaker and much-maligned frontman Crispian Mills’ new band.
As for The Jeevas’ musical-endeavours then, fans of Kula Shaker (and there are plenty of them, believe it or not) won't be disappointed.
Mills — sounding more like Bob Dylan than ever before — is still up to his old tricks on the title-track, Blur's ‘Trimm Trabb’ springing to mind here, and the group collectively forming an ode to a girl called Virginia who is a witch, apparently.

From start to finish, THE JEEVAS did all rock 'n' roll elders right as Crispian, Andy, and Dan beautifully and powerfully demonstrated the range of it all through each of their songs without a single falter or chip in this shiny armor of sound as we all willingly succumbed to their handiwork.
Opening with the single "One Louder," Crispian immediately seized our attention with his immense vocal range and their collective play at their intricately laid, but simply executed music as we were hooked with no hope of getting off this line.
