Books : Joy At Work: A Revolutionary Approach To Fun On The Job   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Joy at Work goes beyond the standard business tale, though: Bakke believes in moral values as ends in themselves, as opposed to means towards the end of greater financial return, and he's not afraid to say it.
In Joy at Work, Bakke tells how he helped create a company where every decision made at the top was lamented as a lost chance to delegate responsibility—and where all employees were encouraged to take the 'game-winning shot,' even when it wasn’t a slam-dunk.
Joy at Work offers a model for the 21st-century company that treats its people with respect, gives them unprecedented responsibility, and holds them strictly accountable—because it’s the right thing to do, not just because it makes good business sense.

Between 1859 and 1861 he studied the densities of gases with Regnault in Paris and the workings of the spectroscope with Kirchoff in Heidelberg.
From early in his career, he felt that there was some type of order to the elements, and he spent more than thirteen years of his life collecting data and assembling the concept, initially with the idea of resolving some of the chaos in the field for his students.

Joy At Work - Bakke Bio
Joy at Work is about two of my passions: To create the most fun workplace in human history and to teach the world the real purpose of large organizations, including businesses.
It is the story of my journey, warts and all, to create a workplace where people can use their ability to reason, make important decisions and hold themselves responsible for the results in an effort to help their organizations serve the world in an economically sustainable manner.
However, when 90% of the working people enter their places of work, they experience almost no freedom to make important decisions that affect the organization's mission and economics.

 Joy to the Work
Joy is an unusual word in a business context, but maybe it can (it definitely should) be more common.
If we define joy in terms of a sense of real accomplishment upon completion, plus learning and growth along the way, plus the flow experience of focused attention on the task at hand, then it can become a manageable objective.
And set up a work environment that allows people to maintain flow and focus, recognizing that over-assignment and multitasking not only delay and diffuse results, but also burn out the people who bounce back and forth between competing tasks.

 Joy At Work - Synopsis
While most business books focus on top executives, Joy at Work is aimed primarily at the working life of the other 90 to 95 percent of people in large organizations.
Rather, fun meant a joy-filled, rewarding, creative work environment, free of autocratic supervisors and staff offices, where each and every employee could fully utilize his or her talents for success.
But the love of work and accomplishment, the passion to serve, and the readiness to honor individual traits, gifts, and failings still exist in the human spirit.
