The Kids Are Alright is a rockumentary film about the British rock band The Who, including live performances, promotional films, and interviews from 1965 through 1978.
The Kids Are Alright premiered in the US on June 15, 1979 in the middle of the disaster film era that featured films like Earthquake, The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno.

The Who: The Kids Are Alright (Special Edition) (1979)
Kids comes across less as a formal documentary and more as an impressionistic look at the first 15 years of the Who.
The Kids Are Alright appears in an aspect ratio of approximately 1.85:1 on this single-sided, single-layered DVD; the image has been enhanced for 16X9 televisions.
Songs like “My Generation”, “Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere” and “I Can’t Explain” demonstrated some vague spread to the sides, but they stayed with their mono origins for the most part.

 The Kids Aren't Alright
In 1993, as the Kids launched what was to be the final season of their show, the group was reported to be plagued by bickering and infighting.
As with the Kids' TV series, which was the result of a comedic Dawinisim in which only the "fittest" sketches survived, the Kids were constantly rewritting Brain Candy; no-one could agree on what the film was about.
At least one thing still drew the Kids together though: a total commitment to "their laughs." All during the shooting they fought a war of artistic attrition against the studio, disputing, in an amiable manner, most of the concessions they were asked to make.

 The Kids Are...
The dramatic thrust of the song is contained in those words and fragments, taking the singer from philosophical detachment to acceptance, even approval of a particular situation; then from occasional stirrings to the dawning (bells are chiming, wake up!) of an ambition not shared by the singer's peers.
That epiphany led to the song "The Kids Aren't Alright" on The Offspring's 1998 album Americana, and it is a sequel of sorts to Townshend's composition.
The song's second verse is a litany of self-imposed catastrophes, "chances thrown." The kids could have been alright, but they blew it.

Following their impressive ICA debut with The Smiths is dead, Iain and Jane continued their obsessive excavation of revivals, imitation, nostalgia and fakery with The Kids are Alright - a live art event featuring a suitably cataclysmic live performance by a Who tribute band plus an exclusive screening of their short film Made in England.
With The Kids Are Alright, attention was shifted from a singular band to an era, a stylistic and all that it went on to influence.

This song, along with "My Generation," became anthems for The Who, as well as for the Mod Movement in England.
the former was more reminiscent, how pete wrote the song when he was "nothing but a kid" and how he shouldn't be alive with all the stuff he's done over the years, but he's "still alright"...the latter ending was written about john after he died.
This song was once frequently covered live by Pearl Jam, though I'm not sure it's a staple in their shows nowadays.

These Kids Were More Than Alright @ Blogcritics.org
Kids is one of the most anarchic documentaries ever assembled, running two hours without a shred of narration and with not so much as a subtitle identifying characters or dates.
The latter two songs are from the Who's 1971 album, Who's Next which introduced a new vocabulary to rock: the rhythmic, sequenced synthesizer, running in the background as a kind of music concrete, providing the structure and rhythmic pacing for the Who's power trio of instrumentation to blast over the top of.
This of course is the opinion of a 23 yr old kid who's too young to have seen the Who in their "prime" and only discovered the joys of classic rock and roll a few years ago.

 THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT
Better leave her behind with the kids, they're alright " Les Calamités sang "Better leave him behind where the kids are alright" and talked about "him" instead of "her".
The resulting meaning is quite different: while The Who had no problem leaving their girlfriends with their buddies, Les Calamités thinked it was better to keep some distance with one's boyfriend every now and then, just to relax and avoid conflicts.

Unfortunately, The Kids Are Alright is rather too fond of celebrating Moon's performances outside of the stage and recording studio, barely allowing an interview opportunity to pass by without choosing those moments when it dissolves into chaos due to Moon's influence.
The quality of the image is terrific and although it is a vast improvement on the quality of the VHS release and that of recent cinema screenings, The Kids Are Alright is never quite as flawless as a number of other recent music releases, the Led Zeppelin set included.
In addition to his comments on the old VHS and Laserdisc releases of The Kids Are Alright, Albarian also talks about the amount of searching that was required to track down all of the negatives of the original footage and how the owners of the footage assisted in the restoration of this film.

A few of the symptoms may be present, but for docs to diagnose bipolar disorder on the basis of kids having rampant energy, inattentiveness and the odd outburst strikes me as overreaching.
To then turn around and slap these same kids with 1 mg or so of Risperdal based more on gut hunches—er, clinical judgment—than on actual research (the research is very thin on bipolar in kids much less on the use of atypicals) is really pushing the boundaries of how these meds are best used.
And kids are caught in a society with few stimuli outside of television, computers and video games as well as the odd soccer practice.

Whilst his career at the club has been blighted by injury, it would be good to see him be given a chance as a regular squad member, something that could happen if Adebayour fails to recover for the weekend.
The nub of Song’s problem is that Fabregas raised the bar of expectation so anyone coming through the ranks in central midfield has his performances as a precedent.
Personally, I believe Song is probably a more natural replacement over a longer term for Gilberto although he faces stiff competition from Denilson and Diaby but they will all need some time to bed into a team at this age.

Stein screened it for the group and found them receptive (actually, they nearly wrecked the screening room in drunken tomfoolery), after which The Kids Are Alright was officially greenlit.
And most elements were "new" in a sense — culled from a pre-video, pre-Internet age when so much media was considered disposable, Stein was collecting material that had been seen by the public just once before, normally in just one country.
He was unsure what to expect when The Kids Are Alright debuted in New York on June 15, 1979.

Many songs were given such impromptu jams over two days of filming but so far only a cover of The Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There" with Keith on lead vocals has turned up on bootleg videos.
