Writing a novel in a month is both exhilarating and stupid, and we would all do well to invite a little more spontaneous stupidity into our lives.
I was so enthusiastic about the novel during that month, and so thrilled when I made the 50,000-word requirement, and then when the month ended I decided to set it aside until after the first of the year and let it cool off before looking at it again.
The title of my National Novel Writing Month novel was “Postage Required.” The novel had a gimmick in that most chapters began with the main character checking his mailbox.

 U.S. Russian Sub
Simon Lake had repeatedly demonstrated the advantages of his even-keel submarine technology for a number of years prior; however, by 1900, the Holland Company, now The Electric Boat Company, was well entrenched in political connections, and Simon Lake and his submarine company were forced to consider foreign alternatives in marketing their submarines.
Simon Lake and the Protector arrived at Kronstadt and the submarine was shipped by rail to Libau where trials were to be held at that military harbor.
As the inventor of the "even keel" submarine, Simon Lake ushered in the age of the modern submarine technology and is considered the Father Of The Modern Submarine.

The Lake House - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Lake House is a 2003 novel by James Patterson, a sequel to When the Wind Blows.
The Lake House tells the story of six extraordinary children, endowed with the power to fly after genetic engineering merged their DNA with that of birds, and who have to fight for their lives against scientists who want to clone them, producing a race of human-bird creatures.
The Lake House was followed by the Maximum Ride series, which was a retooling of the plot aimed at teen readers instead an adult audience and focused more on the children than adults in their lives.

The Lake of Dead Languages -- book review
For the lake has its legend, that of the "three sisters," all of whom, delirious with fever from the flu epidemic of 1918, walked into the lake and there drowned, their souls to be forever transformed to stones, three large boulders, large enough to walk on, that sit on the lake's edge.

Olivia's absence of course allows Jane to be alone on the shores of the lake much more often than would otherwise be the case and I could not help but think, after reading of Jane's almost blasé acceptance of her daughter's kidnapping, that this was the true reason the child was taken.

 Storr's Lake
The low hydrodynamic energy of Storr's Lake precludes the possibility that formation and growth of the stromatolites is due to trapping and binding of sediments.
Microbial stromatolites are thought to be the first complex biological communities that evolved on earth and the morphology of the Storr's Lake stromatolites is reminiscent of Precambrian stromatolite fossils.
The relative isolation and unique biotic structure of San Salvador's lake communities, therefore, greatly increase the likelihood of obtaining novel organisms and discovering novel properties that allow them to survive and actively grow in water-stressed environments characterized by intense ultraviolet radiation and nutrient deprivation.
