Don Omar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Don Omar's popularity is currently rising and he recently appeared on MTV.
Both "The Last Don" as the live edition of it have been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Don Omar's May 2006 album, "King of Kings", became history's highest ranking reggaeton LP in the top 10 US charts, with its debut at # 1 on the Latin sales charts and the #1 spot on the Billboard Latin Rhythm Radio Chart with his single "Angelito".

Don Omar : The Last Don: Live - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Issued a little less than a year after The Last Don, no doubt in response to the overwhelming embrace of that album as a pillar for the emerging reggaeton movement, The Last Don: Live might seem on the surface like a typical cash-in release.
In a word, The Last Don: Live is epic, sprawling across two discs (22 songs, plus three new studio recordings tacked onto the end) and incorporating a bit of a narrative, with Omar framed as "The Immigrant" in the opening introduction, which features, of course, the theme music from The Godfather.
This is the best part of The Last Don: Live, as Omar performs some of his best songs and the crowd often sings along with him.

INTERVIEW: "Last Night," Don McKellar's Intimate Armageddon
Don McKellar is about as famous as you can get in Canada.
Not only is the film a perfect antidote to our cynical 90's, it's also a character driven alternative to the effects-driven disaster pictures brought to us by Hollywood each year.
McKellar casts himself as a sarcastic young man who just wants to be alone his last night on earth and his biggest dilemma is deciding what CD to play.

Mario Puzo's THE LAST DON - Reviews
The backdrop of The Last Don may be operatic ("God's world was a prison in which man had to earn his daily bread, and his fellow man was a fellow beast, carnivorous and without mercy"), but the setting and characters are commedia dell'arte.
The Don himself is something of a closet New Age guru and his Sicilian version of "Be here now," repeated several times at crisis points in the book, is this: "The world is what is and we are what we are." Words to live by, I say.
His new novel, The Last Don, features all the usual suspects and elements: there's the aging leader of a Mafia family, looking for redemption for himself and his family by going legit; there's the large family compound and the bitter sister whose husband was murdered.

October Films Circling Don McKellar's "Last Night"
Yesterday morning, the offices of October Films were ringing with congratulations over the acquisition of Don McKeller's directorial debut "Last Night." Producers of the film at Canadian production company, Rhombus Media, received a slew of similar phone calls.
At the opening of Toronto's Canadian Perspectives section, the reaction to "Last Night" was extremely positive with a massive ovation.
With two prominent films here, "The Red Violin" and "Last Night" up for grabs for US distribs, Rhombus is looking to do some serious business.

 Mario Puzo: The Last Don
As with Mario Puzo's earlier Mafia novels, The Godfather and The Last Don, Omerta examines the attempt of a Mafia Don to turn his back on the vengeance, bloodshed and traditions of Sicily in an attempt to fit in to mainstream American society at the end of the twentieth century.
Don Raymonde, while following the traditions of Sicily, is a devout Catholic who has managed to balance his beliefs in vengeance with beliefs in the Church.
Believing them to be the force behind Don Raymonde's murder, he refusing to cooperate, placing himself in opposition to the syndicate as well as the FBI, which had hoped to use their purchase of the banks in their attempt to capture them.

 The Last Don - Music
Former preacher turned reggaeton superstar Don Omar unleashes an impressive blend of cockiness and charisma on The Last Don.
Don Omar remains an intriguing presence throughout, tearing through uptempo, tropical-flavored jams ("Dale Don Mas Duro," "Caserios #2," "Provocandome") and slowing things down during contemplative tracks "Aunque Te Fuiste" and "Quien La Vio Llorar." It's a refreshing take on a sometimes-stifling musical style.
Don Omar dijo, "Cien mýl o me borro el nombre." Obviamente si este disco fue hecho pa' todo el mundo, cien mil copias seria muy poca.

Compare Prices and Read Reviews on The Last Don - Don Omar at Epinions.com
Don Omar released a live CD titled The Last Don Live: that is not the album I'm talking about today --- I've got his 2003 studio album here...
It's something of a statement on the youthful age of the reggaeton style that Don Omar, young as he is, is considered a "founding father" of reggaeton and that this album, The Last Don is an "oldie" since it came out way back in 2003.
Generally, it seems to me that Don Omar's style differs a bit from Daddy Yankee's in his tendency to pull in a little more tropical salsa tinged flavor and his emphasis on a deeper sounding, more melodious vocal delivery.

The Last Don -   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
The Last Don, written by Mario Puzo in 1996, author of The Godfather, is the second novel in the Godfather series (I believe it is the second one, since he has written so many novels about the mafia including Omerta and The Family, it is hard to determine which book is the follow up).
The Don in question, Don Clerucuzio is a Sicilian man. The "hammer" for the Don, the one who does all the important hits, is Pippi de Lena, who is not related to the Don, and in Mafia circles, this is considered different, since the hammer is usually a relative, a son, or grandson.
The last chapter describing the Don made me laugh out loud, since it was almost written like the Don was Yoda.

BookPage Mario Puzo Interview: The Last Don
With the release of The Last Don, Puzo hopes to regain some of the momentum lost in his career due to the lackluster sales of his 1991 novel, The Fourth K, a superbly written political morality tale concerning a charismatic President seduced by the lure of power.
His new tale of Mafia life, The Last Don, examines the inner workings of a family, the Clericuzios, who not unlike the Corleones, seek to leave behind the bloody battle for turf, the federal probes into their finances, and businesses for more lucrative, legit enterprises.
In his depiction of Don Clericuzio, he treats his readers to another graphic portrayal of a powerful man walking a tightrope between his familial obligations and the ruthless operation of his vast empire of crime and vice.

Mario Puzo's THE LAST DON - Excerpt
Before the arrival of the guests, the Don and his sons sat around the white wrought-iron table in the trellised garden at the back of the mansion.
The Don loved Pippi as much as he did his sons, for in addition to blood -- Pippi being his dead sister's son -- Pippi was the great general who had conquered the savage Santadio.
Pippi was the great hero general of the Clericuzio Family, and if continued to be "Mayor" of the Bronx Enclave, he would be too powerful for the sons of the Don when the Don no longer lived.

This tendency to make last minute requests is not exclusive to the media, even the client suffers from such a habit.
Press releases are only looked at at the last minute, often the night before the event, even though they were sent a week ago for approval.
Events are only informed 7 days before, so the PR team needs to scramble to turn around the events, from sourcing of venue, to setting up, to inviting the media.

This four-hour miniseries is a sequel to 1997's top-rated miniseries, The Last Don,based on the novel by Mario Puzo of The Godfather fame, but several critics noted that The Last Don II is unintentionally funny.

Clericuzio's nephew Cross De Lena (Jason Gedrick) is peacefully enjoying life in Paris with his attractive wife and his autistic stepdaughter; when the wife has a mail bomb go off in her face, it marks the unleashing of a new wave of violence.

Mafia maven Mario Puzo is back on the mob scene with The Last Don, his new bestseller that's chockablock with the kind of characters who made The Godfather so memorable.
In fact, if Marlon Brando lost a little weight, he'd make a terrific Don Domenico, the aging mastermind of the powerful Clericuzio clan, a man determined to see his "family" move into the next millennium as respectable businessmen, as harmless to society as the heads of, say, the major tobacco companies.
Puzo knows Hollywood, too, and adds some flamboyant members of this power-hungry mob to his already heady cocktail of card-carrying Cosa Nostra comrades.
