  The Last Hurrah?
The Last Hurrah presents a comprehensive analysis of the role soft money and issue advocacy play in congressional elections.
They pay particular attention to the role of President Bush and his political operation in candidate recruitment, fundraising, and campaign visits to key battleground districts and states.
This election was the last before the implementation of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA) and was seen by political parties and interest groups as the possible “last hurrah” of soft money.

Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | Thousands ride out for one final hunt as ban ends 300-year tradition
Observed by hundreds of foot followers, many with tears in their eyes, it was a scene that marked the end of centuries of rural tradition.
Across the country from Cumbria to Cornwall, 150 of Britain's 250 hunts performed their own final rituals yesterday as they rode out in their thousands for the last time before fox hunting with dogs was made illegal at midnight.
If this moment marked the last time they could hunt foxes with hounds, members of the Chiddingfold, a hunt with a 330-year history, were going to savour it.

STAGE REVIEW: The Last Hurrah -- Not Much To It
There’s fifteen minutes in the middle of The Last Hurrah which are downright enjoyable.
The rest of the production, with the exception of a couple of amusing scenes and a gorgeous set, is torturous -- an inane exercise in overblown and weightless theatrics, which manages to combine the impersonal quality of bad professional theatre with downright amateurish writing, directing, and (with a few exceptions) acting.
The rest of The Last Hurrah shows him as a near saint: so squarely is he made to be a good guy and so much are his opponents made to be either conceitedly scheming or downright laughable that there’s almost no conflict in the play.

The final events – those last spasms in the long clash between cultures – played out like grand theater with larger-than-life characters.
Ultimately, the story ended, not in an epic and bloody battle, but with an operatic struggle between men of uncommon courage, valor, honor and humanism and those of common deceptiveness, cruelty, treachery and self-aggrandizement.
The Aftermath – On September 5, 1886, Miles assembled Geronimo and his band at Fort Apache and sent them eastward, not to a land of timber and water especially for the Apaches, but to squalid prisons in near tropical Florida, and not as reservation Indians with a new opportunity, but as prisoners of war.
