CBS looking for younger audience with revamped "Late Late Show"
Kilborn comes to the "Late Late Show" from Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" and brings with him his love of sports and verbal jabs.
Which may also explain why the show at times seems to lapse into a pageant for the pretty and perky.

The Late Late Show (CBS TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Throughout most of the show's run, it was also simulcast on CBS radio stations, and Snyder accepted calls from viewers/listeners somewhat in the manner of Larry King.
He opens the show with a (relatively) long monologue (10 to 15 minutes) consisting of a single topic that weaves its way through each joke (similar to a stand-up comedy routine), rather than the typical list of unrelated one-liners or that day's various headlines.
A new set was built for the show over the course of a week of reruns, and debuted on the July 24, 2006 episode.

CBS's LATE, LATE SHOW CALLS FOR KILLING BUSH (Thread #2) [Free Republic]
I saw the portion of the Late, Late Show where Kilbourne (sp?) does a segment called "In the News." There was a photo/video capture of Gov. George W. Bush on the podium at the Republican Convention.
However, I shall watch CBS and the Late Late Show for a few days for one reason: To see who the advertisers are and demand they pull their advertising budget from such disgusting shows or I will boycott their products, until there is a public apology and private apology to George W. Bush!.
CBS should be brought to justice for allowing the call for the murder of public officials to go out over your airwaves..

It never tried to be the biggest show in its slot- it made do with the audience who stuck with him and who weren't too thrilled by Triumph the insult comic dog, or later by Jimmy Kimmel's brand of comedy.
However, one of the key jewels in the show's 5 year history has to be the 5 Questions game he plays almost every night with one of his guests.
His show was indeed an interesting alternative to the normal method of delivering a late night television program, and there won't be another show like it.

CBS Host Craig Ferguson Pays 9/11 Tribute to America: 'The Flag Was Still There' | NewsBusters.org
Instead of opening with his usual monologue of jokes, Craig Ferguson, an immigrant from Scotland, began Monday night's Late Late Show on CBS with a tribute to America, a refreshing attitude not often heard these days in the mainstream media.
The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, which is taped in Los Angeles and airs after the Late Show with David Letterman, is produced for CBS by Letterman's Worldwide Pants, Inc.
Ferugson has stated in monologues of earlier shows that he is in the process of becoming an American citizen.  I think it says something that the immigrants to this country are so often more thankful and more patriotic than the silver-spoon-in-the-mouth Americans like Bill Maher.

The Late Late Show is still just as good as ever, and if this is all it took to "push you over the edge," then Craig is better off without people like you.
I think that contrary to the pattern of many shows, Craig Ferguson's incarnation of the Late Late Show was somewhat better when it, and he, were both brand new to the late night talk circuit.

After such an exhaustive process, you'd think CBS had found the perfect host, but Ferguson is still finding his footing.
The main thing Ferguson has going for him at this point is unbridled enthusiasm—he's said in interviews that his first show was like a revelation, when he finally realized what he was meant to do with his life.
Given time to develop his own distinct voice, like Conan O'Brien (who was a disaster when he debuted as the host of Late Night in 1993), Ferguson could be a welcome late-night presence and certainly more palatable than the smarmy, self-centered Kilborn ever was.
