  Sri Aurobindo's The Life Divine,An Analysis, Summary, Overview,Introduction,explanation,Review,Philosophy,Insight,The ...
The Life Divine begins with the premise that the spirit that was lost in the creation of the universe needs to be rediscovered and regained, and then applied to all aspects of life -- from our inner psychological existence to the social existence outside ourselves.
The Life Divine tells us how and why we humans are born as Ignorant divided forms, how life has painfully progressed despite these limitations, and how we can overcome them by rising in consciousness, ushering in a new way of life.
The Life Divine explains why we fail to see the Spirit in our lives, how we can come to recognize it, what Its many great attributes are, and how to make it an integral part of our existence to enable its power of Being to enter into the daily Becomings of our lives.

Sri Aurobindo - The Life Divine
In the ordinary distribution of life's activities the individual regards himself as a separate being included in the universe and both as dependent upon that which transcends alike the universe and the individual.
Life is a self-affirmation of being, even a development and survival of ego, but of a being that has need of other beings, an ego that seeks to meet and include other egos and to be included in their life.

Excerpts from THE LIFE DIVINE by SRI AUROBINDO
A divine life must be first and foremost an inner life; for since the outward must be the expression of what is within, there can be no divinity in the outer existence if there is not the divinisation of the inner being.
It is evident that in a life governed by the gnostic consciousness war with its spirit of antagonism and enmity, its brutality, destruction and ignorant violence, political strife with its perpetual conflict, frequent oppression, dishonesties, turpitudes, selfish interests, its ignorance, ineptitude and muddle could have no ground for existence.
A life of gnostic beings carrying the evolution to a higher supramental status might fitly be characterised as a divine life; for it would be a life in the Divine, a life of the beginnings of a spiritual divine light and power and joy manifested in material Nature.

This double experience of retaining one's oneness with the Divine and accepting the phenomenal world in its true light, is called a 'Supramental experience' by Sri Aurobindo.
The view I am presenting goes further in idealism; it sees the creative Idea as Real-Idea,that is to say, a power of Conscious-Force expressive of real being, born out of real being and partaking of its nature and neither a child of the Void nor a weaver of fictions.
Mind, Life and Body are an inferior consciousness and a partial expression which strives to arrive in the mould of a various evolution at that superior expression of itself already existent to the Beyond-Mind.

The Life Divine: Mind and Supermind, Life
This unfoldment of Part I of the Life Divine leads from a founding of all experience in pure infinite Being, self-conscious and self-blissful, to its self-representation as an act of Delight, through its creative agency, Supermind.
Recalling the early chapters of the Life Divine, we are reminded of Conscious Force, Chit-Shakti or Chit-Tapas, emerging out of its latency in pure absolute infinite Being, Sat, and entering into relation with it, as the basis of any self-representation of Being.
Thus the Truth of Life, its parallel principle in the Vidya is Chit-Shakti or Chit-Tapas, Conscious Force.

The accordance of active Life with a material of form in which the condition of activity itself seems to be inertia, is one problem of opposites that Nature has solved and seeks always to solve better with greater complexities; for its perfect solution would be the material immortality of a fully organised mind-supporting animal body.
Not only, then, is the upward impulse of man towards the accordance of yet higher opposites rational in itself, but it is the only logical completion of a rule and an effort that seem to be a fundamental method of Nature and the very sense of her universal strivings.
