		Little Norse Prince, directed by Takahata and animated by Miyazaki in 1968 was also Takahata's directorial debut and draws on an ancient Japanese myth transposed to Scandanavian folklore.
		Takahata's Little Norse Prince tells the story of Horus, a young man who pulls a blade out of a Rock Giant only to discover that it is the Sword of the Sun and, if reforged, the sword's destiny will transform the boy into the Prince of the Sun.
		Both films were made before Studio Ghibli was established and demonstrate the skill and imagination that make these films seminal works in the anime genre.
