  The Lodger
The lodger tries to elevate Daisy from her social and economic position to his own, to transform her from the daughter of a backstreet lodging house owner, to a woman of sophistication and elegance, one who will be worthy of the comforts he enjoys in his world.
Daisy and the lodger sit beneath a street lamp which looks ominously like the lamp under which the second murder in the film occurred, but their behavior is far from sinister as the lodger attempts to make plain his passion.
He weighs carefully the lodger’s explanation as to the identity of the woman in the picture, but is forced to consider this explanation in relation to the gun, the map, the press clippings, and his own alienation from Daisy.

The instant realization most of the audience has is the Lodger is the Avenger because of the way the camera smartly works to create an aura around him, to show him in a mysterious, dark, and menacing fashion.
Bunting sees The Lodger mysteriously leaving on a Tuesday night, her suspicions that The Lodger is The Avenger are confirmed, at least in her mind.

Generally, these bands are hit or miss, and most of the time, even when they do well the first time out, their second effort (you know, that sophomore album that finds the band wanting to `broaden their palate') sinks like a pewter submarine in the bathtub.
When that turned out not to be so, I surmised that maybe it was a sly reference to the lead singer of the band with which they are so often mentioned in the same breath.
In fact, B&S is another good reference point to use when discussing the Lodger, considering that Siddall's voice lacks the throaty strength of Morrissey's and is probably closer to that of Stuart Murdoch, or perhaps Francis Reader of the Trashcan Sinatras.

 The Lodger, Grown Ups Album Review
There can't be many more phrases to immediately divide opinion between fans of alternative music; for each sensitive soul more than happy to wallow in a fey mire of 80's floppy-wristed girlfriendlessness there exists an equal and opposite individual who can think of nothing better than beating Morrissey to death with his own gladioli.
Songwriter Ben Siddall has patiently crafted a set of tunes harking back to the days when a chiming guitar and wry lyric bemoaning one's status as an outsider would draw the crowds to the indie-discos and anorak cities.
That's a minor quibble though, as 'Grown-Ups' is undoubtedly one of the strongest sets of pop songs you're likely to hear on one record for many a year.
