Lonely Planet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lonely Planet Publications (usually known as Lonely Planet or LP for short), claims to be the largest independently-owned travel guidebook publisher in the world.
Lonely Planet also has a television production company (Lonely Planet Television), which has produced and developed three series: Lonely Planet Six Degrees (which is the company's flagship series), The Sport Traveller, and Vintage New Zealand.
Lonely Planet's first book, Across Asia on the Cheap, was written and published by Tony Wheeler, a former engineer at Chrysler Corp., and his wife Maureen Wheeler in Sydney in 1973, following a lengthy jaunt across the continent.

He is not flesh-and-blood or even silicon-and-plasma but a squeaky-squeezy plastic inflatable hanging by a string from the ventilation pipe, yet he serves to remind me that, at least as a cultural phenomena, aliens are indeed among us.
His book Lonely Planets: The Natural Philosophy of Alien Life was published in November 2003.

 I Feel Terribly Lonely
Have you noticed that some lonely teenagers are not willing to take certain risks?--like not taking the initiative in starting a conversation, or not wanting to go to a party by themselves.
As I mentioned earlier, there are times when lonely teenagers may be too afraid to ask someone for a date, or too timid to express their opinions or desires.
In this case, those who are not lonely can work with lonely teenagers in modeling for them how to initiate conversations, how to ask for dates, asking questions aloud, and so on.

Lonely people have a greater risk of heart disease, possibly due to differences in how their cardiovascular system reacts in times of stress rather than because of unhealthy behaviors, according to a new study published in the May/June issue of Psychosomatic Medicine.

The Lonely Way is about a brilliant but failed artist named Julian Fichtner, who has arrived at middle age with nothing to show for his lifelong pursuit of pleasure, freedom, and self-expression.
Complicating matters still further is the actress Irene Herms, once Fichtner's lover, and now, on a rare visit to the city, confronted with her own betrayal at the hands of the man she loved.
I realize that I may have made The Lonely Way sound like a soap opera, so I reiterate that what makes this play tick is not what happens but what its characters feel, wish, fail to say.

"Only the Lonely" is a wistful romance so determined to sweep us off our feet it fairly grunts with exertion.
Written and directed by Columbus, it is essentially a remake of Paddy Chayefsky's "Marty," the bittersweet story of a lonely mama's boy (Candy) who falls in love with the shy daughter of a mortician (Sheedy), thereby threatening his sicko relationship with his mother, Rose (Maureen O'Hara).
In any case, "Only the Lonely" is probably going to stay that way.
