		Currently, Alaskan gas is not marketed in the lower 48 since there is no infrastructure to deliver gas produced in Alaskan fields to consumers in the rest of the United States.
		The lower price for stranded reserves is due to lower exploration costs associated with these reserves and the lack of other options for the owners of the stranded resource.
		The lower 48 wellhead price is projected to be lower than it would be without the pipeline (Figure 8.) Prices in 2020 are $3.20 in the case with the Pipeline Act, compared to $3.26 per thousand cubic feet in the AEO2002 reference case.

		Okay, I’ve put this off long enough, hoping to snag Denali for a 50 sweep, but it wasn’t to be this year, so, here’s a 48 writeup.
		I retired as a navy pilot, after 28 years of service, in late 1994, and was trying to see where I could travel in retirement with my trusty Rand-McNally atlas.
		This coming May I’m off to Denali once again, and with a lot of luck and good weather, I’ll be owing another writeup in the fall.

		NIFC attributed the better-than-expected wildland fire season across the lower 48 states to fewer dry lightning storms and high initial-attack success rates.
		The state's summer was the warmest and third driest on record and set the record for the most lightning strikes (9,022) in a 24-hour period on July 15.

	Geographic Center of the Lower 48 United States
		A pyramidal stone monument with a brass plaque claims this site as "the Geographic Center of the United States" (the monument was installed in 1940 before Alaska and Hawaii joined the union).
		The site was endorsed as such by the Coast and Geodetic Survey in 1918, despite the crude process by which it was determined: the shape of the lower 48 states was cut out of a cardboard sheet, and balanced on a point.
		Though the Geodetic Survey would later regret making any official declaration, this early endorsement was enough to enable Lebanon's Hub Club to claim its center as official, beating a few other competing communities for the title, which, it was assumed, could lead to considerable tourist revenue, and literally put the community on the map.
