The Lucidity Institute, Inc. was founded in 1987 by lucid dreaming researcher Dr. Stephen LaBerge to support research on lucid dreams and to help people learn to use them to enhance their lives.
Lucid dreaming means dreaming while knowing that one is dreaming and allows people to consciously guide the direction of their dreams.
The Lucidity Institute's primary mission is to advance research on the nature and potentials of consciousness and to apply the results of this research to the enhancement of human health and well-being.

We have pioneered the laboratory study of lucid dreaming (1,2,3) at the Stanford University Sleep Research Center, and thus are well positioned to employ lucid dreaming in the study of the nature of human consciousness and to explore the applications of lucid dreaming in health improvement.

I do not drink to have lucid dreams, but this causes them for me. I consider this a kind of Altered State Of Consciousness because I feel almost like I am hallucinating.

 Lucidity Techniques
I came upon the SCIL method (Sub-Conscious Initiation of Lucidity) through the use of the MILD method and when first employing it I had four lucid dreams in a row.
Memory acts as the bridge whereby lucidity is induced.
This is surely a minor technique but when I have awakened from sleep and am trying to gather myself for a fresh run at lucidity it is a nice way to pass the time and I have noticed a feeling that "something" is going on.
