It was while lecturing at a ‘Summer School of Drama’ at Sunderland’s Empire theatre in 1982 that John was approached by Tyne Tees Television to perform a ‘three-minute-one-trick’ spot on their Saturday morning children’s show ‘Saturday Shake-Up’.
Harold was a consummate magician in all branches of the magic arts and his sharing of his knowledge inspired John to try it for himself.
