Maples in Cabarrus county often decay on the inside before they get large enough to harvest.
I prefer maples over sweet gum because the prickly round fruit of native sweet gums, but sometimes sweet gums are the best trees on site.

It was unbeliveable the field just out of Copenhagen towards the Maples is a corn field and the farmer that ownes it had been spreading manure all week.
There was no snow at all and the fields on the other side of town are good quality hay fields that have been run to mud.
