The McGuire Sisters were a singing trio in American popular music.
They consisted of Christine McGuire (born July 30, 1929), Dorothy McGuire (born February 13, 1930), and Phyllis McGuire (born February 14, 1931).
They were born in Middletown, Ohio and grew up in Miamisburg, Ohio, where their mother, Lillie, was an ordained minister of the Miamisburg First Church of God and let them sing in the church as young girls.

The sisters began singing in a church in Middletown, Ohio where their mother was an ordained minister, when Phyllis was only 4 years old.
The McGuire Sisters (Phyllis, Dorothy and Christine) got their big break on the Arthur Godfrey Talent Show, where they replaced the Chordettes and remained for six years.
The three sisters McGuire indeed have a unity of blend hard to match among the many famous sibling groups.

Lillie McGuire was an ordained minister, and the girls' first singing experiences were in church-indeed, secular music was frowned upon in the household, and they had to sneak the Andrews Sisters and other popular acts into their regular listening.
It was the start of a seven year gig that made the McGuire Sisters one of the most well known vocal groups in the country.
Their most successful cover was "Sincerely," a song that had been recorded by the Moonglows on Chess, which the McGuire Sisters brought to No. 1 in their version late in 1954 and early 1955.

Born in Middletown, the McGuire Sisters - Christine, Dorothy and Phyllis - hit the Billboard charts numerous times in the 1950s and '60s, bringing covers of "Sincerely," "Sugartime" and "Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight" into the top 10.
Their mother's connection to the church led to the sisters' donation of the house to the Centerville Christian Fellowship Church, which is using the proceeds for a new building, Lewis said.
All three sisters live out of state, although they often returned to visit their mother.

In 1985 the sisters made a comeback and the fans were still enthusiastic.
This was the stuff of Your Hit Parade, light pop music, and this series of pop-style covers of randb singles was a conscious strategy by Thiele that put the McGuires in as strong a position as a recording act as they were as a broadcasting outfit.
It also marked the McGuires, in the eyes of many randb enthusiasts and rock 'n roll historians, as part of the movement resisting rock 'n roll.
