 GOLFONLINE - Think Major Winners
Nicklaus had played in every Memorial Tournament since its inception in 1976, winning in 1977 and '84, while Woods had played in every one since 1997, his first full year as a professional, winning three years running from 1999-2001.
That's because Jack Nicklaus, the course architect as well as the founder of the Memorial, wanted the course to be similar to Augusta National as well as course that hold the U.S. Open and PGA Championship.
Another interesting sidelight to the 30 Memorial tournaments is how tough it is to win the tournament while leading.
