Storer-Gulls Wings by Robert Heinlein from The Menace From Earth
Holly was born on the Moon; her hobbies are designing star-ships and flying in a natural cavern called "Bats' Cave", Luna City's air reservoir.
Just as people on Earth use water reservoirs for recreation, so the people of Luna use the Bat's Cave for recreational flying, using specially designed bat's wings.

  washingtonpost.com: Entertainment Guide
As directed by Roger Christian (a set decorator-turned director who did second-unit direction for "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace"), "Battlefield Earth" is a third-rate sci-fi flick, full of laughable moments: scene transitions are signified by a cheap-looking, video-style "wipe" of the screen.
And Psychlo aliens use such extraterrestrial turns of phrase as "Have you blown a head gasket?" The whole thing culminates with a sort of "James Bond"-derived storming of the fortress battle, full of shattering glass, explosions, laser fire and grunting Psychlos.
But "Battlefield Earth" saves its scariest moment for the end: a virtual guarantee that there will be a sequel.

Entertainment Weekly - Review of "Battlefield Earth"
Battlefield Earth is based on a 1982 dystopian fantasy novel by L. Ron Hubbard, the late founder of Scientology.
John Travolta, well known as a follower of Hubbard's, is one of the producers, but he claims that both the book and the movie have nothing to do with Scientology, and he may be right.
Dismal as it is, "Battlefield Earth" is one of the few big-budget follies that actually inspired me to feel sorry for its star.

Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956): Hugh Marlowe, Joan Taylor, Donald Curtis - PopMatters Film Review
Among the several oddities in 1956 alien invasion B-movie Earth vs. the Flying Saucers, one stands out: its featureless, otherworldly flying discs, with retractable rayguns like satellite dishes on their underbellies, are a sum of all fears about flying saucers.
The unnamed alien race in Earth vs. the Flying Saucers, after desecrating its native solar system, has come to pillage Earth and subjugate the planet's inhabitants, jealous as the aliens are of our planet's marvelous liberty, its Elysian fields and beaches.
Earth vs. the Flying Saucers is full of oddly clairvoyant moments, prefiguring military misadventures that were the faintest daydreams in those days around the Korean War.

Simply reading The Green Hills of Earth from cover to cover is enough to show that this is no more than a collection of stories, some of them quite good ones, that don't happen to have a whole lot to do with one another.
For some idea of his method, let's take the short story "The Menace from Earth." The core of this story is human beings flying under their own power.
Heinlein has by and large been able to build complex, consistent societies, the complexity coming from individual elements that fit together at the same time that they are used to further the story action.

This nuisance aside, Bio Menace is a fun shareware platformer that isn’t Apogee’s best, but is by no means their worst either.

If such a thing can be said to occur in a mammoth special effects film, The Phantom Menace was hand-crafted by Star Wars creator George Lucas, who wrote and directed.
This means Lucas gets to fully indulge his fertile imagination, creating a spectacular visual treat packed with fully realized fantasy landscapes – including a phenomenal underwater city – and lifelike, computer-generated characters like Jar Jar Binks, the film’s designated comic relief.
The weak link is Jake Lloyd, a generically bland actor who doesn’t project any of the intelligence or promise the story calls for – even his typical kid cries of "Yippee!" sound hollow.
