 Biography of The Right Honourable D. Roland Michener
At meetings of the Board of Governors, which he attended until his death, there was enthusiastic support to commit The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences to carry on his tradition of excellence, service, respect for the individual, promotion of health and "freedom with order" - his personal motto.
Roland Michener, twentieth Governor General since Confederation and fifty-eighth from Samuel de Champlain, was born 19 April 1900 in Alberta, son of the late Senator Edward Michener and Mary Edith Roland, both natives of Lincoln County, Ontario.

In 1970, the firm won Honorable Mention from the American Institute of Architects for the Kershner Studio in Doylestown.
Taylor has served as an instructor at Drexel University, a guest lecturer at Muhlenberg College, and as architectural design critic at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania.
Taylor and his firm also designed the Mari Sabusawa Michener Wing of the James A. Michener Art Museum which opened to the public in October of 1996.

 Haku Maki
By the mid 50s his art was attracting attention at international print shows and in 1959 his work was selected along with that of nine other leading print artists to make up James A. Michener's landmark book The Modern Japanese Print.
The following year Maki was included in the Art Institute of Chicago show Japan's Modern Prints - Sosaku Hanga.
Two unique qualities of a Maki print are the textures achieved by working the designs in wet cement and the use of Chinese characters as design motifs.

 CTV.ca Ed Schreyer will run for the NDP in Manitoba
Schreyer was recently appointed to the Habitat for Humanity board of directors, and also serves with the Canadian Shield Foundation, Sierra Legal Defense Fund, the Port of Vancouver Port Authority and, International Institute of Sustainable Development and the Lake Winnipeg Stewardship Board, among others.
Schreyer mentioned Roland Michener, an MP from Ontario who later became Speaker of the House and then governor general, and Lord Alexander who held the post before returning to the United Kingdom where he became minister of defense.
Schreyer said there has been some confusion on this point, but said he doesn't believe he is setting a precedent.

Rosen was an elected member of the National Academy of Design and The National Arts Club, and his work is in many collections including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Butler Institute in Youngstown, Ohio, the James A. Michener Art Museum and the City Art Museum in St. Louis.
An accomplished Impressionist and modernist experimenting with cubism, Charles Rosen applied this style and other European innovations to typical American subjects.
In 1918, he went to the Woodstock Art Colony at age forty to teach landscape painting in summer school in the Art Students League program, and by 1920 he had settled permanently in Woodstock where he lived until his death in 1950.
