		Mighty Joe Young is one of the few films that presents a genuinely sympathetic simian character.
		There actually was a sequel to King Kong titled The Son of Kong, but in many ways Mighty Joe Young could be considered the legitimate heir to the archetypal cinematic ape.
		Comparisons to the first gigantic gorilla are not wholly inappropriate, as Mighty Joe Young was a reunion of sorts for many of the folks involved with King Kong.

		They steal so many things from King Kong that I can't even go over the list, there are official remakes that have less in common with their original film than Peking Man does with King Kong.
		Like the moment where Mighty Peking Man is tied up to tonka trucks (they're supposed to be miniatures) and is pelted with fruit from the audience enjoying the show.

		There is an extensive and in depth website devoted to his French incarnation, and I have to give greatful credit to Alain Decayeux, creator of that site, for allowing me to use information and images from it to enhance this entry.
		In Germany in the seventies the magazine Vulcan was published under the title "Kobra" showcasing Mytek The Mighty, Tim Kelly, Steel Claw, The Spider and Robot Archie.
		I mention this only for completeness, as it's a really atrocious story which violates the memory of the original, and as such, should be avoided like the plague.

		Good news first: Hong Kong action superstar Chow Yun-Fat, who happens to be one of the sexiest and best looking men in the world IMHO, has signed on to appear in a new American film.
		The name Kong of the original "one-ape revolution", it turns out, is a Malaysian word for gorilla.
		While I could not agree King Kong was "the most terrifying movie monster of all time" the 1933 original is a classic.

	The Mighty Peking Man
		Produced in Hong Kong by Shaw Brothers, famous for their martial arts epics, this is a nutty variation (AKA rip-off) of KING KONG, released a year after Dino De Laurentiis' Hollywood remake.
		Although it was by no means a smash, this action packed 90 minute programmer proved to be a warm-welcomed popcorn movie that is far more enticing than big budget rubbish like our own GODZILLA remake.
		In the first few minutes, giant elephants trample members of the hunting party, one guy has his leg bitten off by a tiger, and a bunch more fall to their deaths from a mountain cliff.
