The follow-up, The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste was as, if not more, acclaimed than The Land of Rape and Honey.
Both albums included similar tight, thick soundscapes, but The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste was slightly harder with Jourgensen's guitar more heavily emphasized.
The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste was supported by a tour through 1990, and by the singles Burning Inside (for which a video was made) and So What (a composition inspired by the movie The Violent Years).

It is clear however that desire for connection to the Net is not a minority taste, something only for a military or academic elite, but rather it corresponds closely to the enormous demand for the ubiquitous computer itself at every social level.
The general Heideggerian idea of a value inherent in technology is instanced in the statement that the high technology of factory farming, or ``agribusiness,'' is inseparable from a bad way of relating to nature, understanding it and treating it simply as something to be processed in wholesale fashion for satisfaction of human appetites.
For one thing, information technology threatens its cultural hegemony, since computers and the Internet pose alternatives to reading books as a source of information, a form of entertainment, and so forth, and they challenge the status quo of the publishing industry and other social institutions that have grown up around the book.

They would see tangible changes in the first three dimensions ("it hit the Pharaoh on the head") and a fourth-dimensional effect, too ("first he was standing upright and then later he was out cold on the floor; first we watched stupidly, then we ran away lest his guards catch us").
You wouldn't know anything except that certain things happened; you could explore and investigate, and understand how it happens, but your understanding would stretch theoretically at least only to your four dimensions, unless you opened up to the not-irrational possibility that there is a Higher Hand guiding things.
It is rare that we come across a film with a message that blends the darkness of human attempts at perfection alongside the cognizance of spiritual wisdom, though perhaps the director may not have intended as much.

In 1988 the band released In the Land of Rape and Honey, an album that filtered the metal and industrial influences of the time into a unique, hard-driving juggernaught that did good business for the band's label Sire Records, a subdivision of Warner Bros. Two years later, though, the quintessential Ministry album was unleashed.
The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste is perhaps the best cross-over industrial album ever made.
Despite four stand-out tracks, the album lacked the consistency of The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste.

The true Ministry sound didn't materialize immediately, as With Sympathy is a synth/pop album, very unlike anything else the band did, and Twitch is more early industrial.
By 1989 the trademark blend of metal and industrial was complete, as heard on A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste, the bands' first big hit and still a favorite of many.
The band (mostly a cadre of secondary musicians surrounding the core of Allen Jourgenson and Paul Barker) has had its ups and downs over the years, with the last few years in particular being somewhat leaner years popularity-wise.

In 1993, I tracked down a copy of the "Burning Inside" single from Ministry's masterpiece, 1989's The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste.
The one new track here is "The Great Satan", which further spews venom towards the President with uninspired speed-metal riffing, flat, robotic drumming, and distorted vocals.
The verses are built on a foundation of dub-like drums, a hypnotic bass, and low-mixed guitar squealing.

MIND opens with the one-two punch of "Thieves" and "Burning Inside." The first features a whip-fast chorus, punctuated by samples of the drill-like sound of an automatically rewinding camera, that sets off the obsessive anger of the verses.
In the second, vocalist Al Jourgensen's slightly phased vocals cut across razor-sharp bursts of guitar and a massive drum sound.

 Pigface biography >> liveDaily
Pigface is an industrial music collective directed by remixer/producer/drummer Martin Atkins, who prior to forming the group in 1990, had lent his talents to such outfits as Public Image Ltd., Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, and Killing Joke, as well as heading his own record label, Invisible.
During Ministry's 1989-1990 tour in support of their classic The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste album, Atkins came up with the idea of Pigface along with then-Ministry drummer Bill Rieflin.
For each album, Atkins would assemble a new lineup of alternative superstars, reflecting the anarchistic ideals of the original punk rock bands of the mid-'70s.
