Misfits didn't wear that much make-up compared to KISS, depends which era you are talking about.
I'm not a diehard fan whose going to go to any lengths to defend them but I enjoy their music and to me they are just another punk band that I like.
We have too many kids that know nothing about punk but go running around screaming about ramones, dead kennedys, misfits, sex pistols and the clash as if their teen years were '77-'82.

It was sometimes hard to tell which way the Misfits wanted to be taken, and the immense cult following that has grown up in the years after their actual existence (1977-1983) seems divided in its own assessment.
It certainly wasn't the Misfits' musicianship -- which was as crude as the recording quality of most of their oeuvre -- that endeared them to so many, although Glenn Danzig possessed one of the most distinctive and tuneful bellows in hardcore punk.
Misfits compilations began appearing as soon as 1985 on Caroline (Legacy of Brutality); 1987's Misfits compilation began whetting appetites for the large quantity of material that remained out of print, although Metallica's version of "Last Caress" and, later, Guns N' Roses' cover of "Attitude" hinted at what might be discovered.

The Misfits (1961) is a poignant drama about the death of the old West, from director John Huston and screenwriter Arthur Miller (who was briefly married to star Marilyn Monroe from 1956-1960, wrote the film for her, and experienced a disintegrating marriage during the film's production).
After Guido's small airplane guides and terrorizes the animals down from the hills, the others lasso and roundup the 'misfit' horses from a speeding pick-up truck.
Roslyn is ultimately shocked to learn that these free and wild horses will be slaughtered and cheaply sold to a dog food company for pet food.

I wanted him to be a kid who sees himself as cool, who sees nothing wrong with being attracted to the boy who sits next to him in art class as opposed to the girl on the other side of him.
He understands, as do the other "misfits" in this story, that the problem isn't with himself, it's with the attitudes and ignorance of others.
