		One classic episode, "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street", dramatized a situation which can be seen as allegoric to the general situation of a good leader losing control during times of threat and being replaced by a bad leader who offers the orienting solutions demanded by the threatened group.

		Remember the old Twilight Zone episode, "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street," ranked as one of the series' best by those who care about such matters?
		A minor classic on Cold War hysteria, it takes place on a typical street in a typical American town, where the power goes out for no apparent reason.
		By all rights, yesterday's record-setting flout that left some 50 million without electricity should have been a Maple Street moment, at least in terms of rioting and shooting, if not necessarily politically motivated hysteria.

		I just assumed the chaos went on until every human life on Maple Street was dead or confused for their lifetime.

		They become obsessed with finding this monster that is hiding amongst them, and being to air out every last idiosyncrasy of each person as they move from suspect to suspect.
		A classic episode which even the most casual of Twilight Zone marathon observers has probably seen, it is definitely another of my favorites.
