It's actually not a bad sf idea: the frontier of a rapidly expanding spacegoing society is likely to be mostly low-tech: it's going to take time for a colony to afford the futuristic turrets and domes.
Since our record with other client states is so poor, we really can't say that we know what we did right in Germany and Japan and that we could repeat that success elsewhere.
Even Monty Python couldn't make this stuff work for an hour and a half at a time, except in Holy Grail, and that only worked because they worked hard to give it an un-sketch-like thematic unity.

This is not instant gratification but it is very gratifying when well done.

WizKids has posted a lengthy, chatty article about the new collectible BattleTech, now actually titled MechWarrior: Dark Age, which contains more than a few things I didn't know about continuation of the old BT roleplaying titles, as well as somewhat defensive-sounding insistences that the new game will certainly not be for kids.
