It is this richness of fabric that led to After the Gold Rush and Pet Sounds and Astral Weeks and Nirvana.
Unlike all else produced by Nirvana, the sound textures in Unplugged charted a future development which few musicians have tried to pursue, perhaps because it is difficult to be truly creative in modern western society, a culture that proclaims doctrinally that all creativity has already reached its fulfilment.
Pete Yorn's album Music For The Morning After is likeable for the rational way in which it addresses the issues confronting modern music in crisis.

It's the kind of sound that holds hands with the pre-Franz garage pop the kids were so fond of for fifteen minutes in the early 'oughts' (The Hives, Mooney Suzuki), and still finds time to sleep with the neo-shoegazer thing that's about to be all the rage.
The rest of the album unfolds as a mix of noisy garage pop and tripped out neo-psyche that certainly breaks no boundaries, but sounds great, nevertheless.
The distorted instrumental pop of "Fireworks" slides into the gentle comedown of "Interlude" back up to the vaguely jangly "Straight Thru You." The album is a compilation of their two previously released independent EP's, yet still has the solid ebb and flow of a well constructed album.

Between the accounting firm, raising her daughter, writing songs and performing and promoting the new album, she appears content, with a hopeful eye to the future.
She describes Moon and the Morning After as “combining the vintage feel of the Patsy Cline era with rough guitars.”; The disc, she says, is her “most focused to date.” She’s not far from the truth.
The album takes many turns, from the swooning country lilt of “Do I Dare?” to the Motown-influenced bass of “Drink the Dust.” At times it rolls along the gravel roads of folk and Detroit rock ’n’ roll.

Review Digest - Review of The Morning After at Musical Discoveries
A feature of this album, as it was with much of Pooka's work, are the swooping vocals--no-one can slide across notes quite like Natasha Jones, and the album is also strewn with extraordinary, pushed-to-the-limit harmonies.
The closing song, which gives it's name to the album, is one of the simplest and strongest pieces on the disc.
This is not a CD that's going to rip your head off on first play--it demands a bit of work from the listener, but the rewards are great; and over a period of time you'll find it insinuating itself into your consciousness.
