	Movement (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Movement was New Order's debut album, released in November 1981 on Factory Records.
		Musically, 'Movement' is a transitional album between the group's previous work as Joy Division and their 'mature' sound as witnessed on 'Blue Monday' and 'Power, Corruption and Lies' onwards.
		The album's cover was designed by Peter Saville and is based on a Futurist poster by Fortunato Depero.

		The fact is this album is fairly dark, and considering its history, captures the mood of the events that surround it.
		I believe the reasons for the doubts about this album stem from the fact that the band had just been forced into a new direction, they were unsure, stuck between staying the same for their fans in their JD days or moving on.
		The sessions for 'Movement' took place sporadically over a 10 month period, not least due to a general indecision but also the fact that Martin Hannett, who only the previous year produced the monumental 'Closer' album, was beginning too to lose the plot in the wake of Curtis' death.

		Strip them of their history and take this album as it is for the time it was released and even today, and still it holds as a very good set of songs about stretching across a flened musical landscape of minor chords and sketchy guitar with guilt ridden vocals and the occasional dance-trippy melodies.
		Movement is a gloomy record, but that's ok, the dark wave really did rejoice in it's melancholy and of course in it's layered sounds.
		"Movement" is synth-heavy in the same way that the second half of "Closer" is: that is, the keyboard is a ponderous instrument with very little mobility that serves to create atmosphere more than to lead the melodic progression (see "Truth").

		While each member may be waiting to release their solo ventures in the coming year or two, the group as a whole may never see the dominance they once had back in the mid 90’s.
		The underrated Ayatolla comes through with the majority of the best efforts on “The Movement”, as he is the only producer on the album who provides Deck with at least some consistency in the production field.
		In the end “The Movement” is a two-sided story, one that features some really nice tracks, and one that showcases some of Decks worst material ever.

	The Movement
		This album is true Hip Hop, in its most natural form, as it was meant to be.
		The music and beats are not Desi, I don't want you people thinking this is a Desi album, it is a Hip Hop album to the core and it just so happens that Desis made it.
		That combination compliments the whole theme of the album perfectly, and I guess in that sense, it is a movement in itself.
