  The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984)
After the success of Kermit’s self-penned “Manhattan Melodies” stage show, he and the others are encouraged to take it to Broadway, which they attempt to do.
Manhattan isn’t Se7en, after all, so I don’t think it’s unfair to reveal that the film has a happy ending.
Ultimately, The Muppets Take Manhattan provided a positive image; were it not for the grain and other minor print flaws, the picture might have entered “A” territory.

The Muppets - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The word "Muppet" itself was said by Henson to have been created by combining the words "marionette" and "puppet"; however, Henson was also known to have stated that it was just something he liked the sound of, and he made up the "marionette/puppet" story while talking to a journalist because it sounded plausible.
Muppets are distinguished from ventriloquist "dummies", which are typically animated only in the head and face, in that their arms or other features are also mobile and expressive.
Muppets may represent humans, anthropomorphic animals, realistic animals, robots or anthropomorphic objects, extra-terrestrial creatures, mythical beings or other unidentified, newly imagined creatures.

THE CINEMA LASER DVD REVIEW-- THE MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN
The thing I like the best about THE MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN ($20) is the fact that the movie is a throwback to the good old days of Hollywood musicals, where a group of kids got together and put on a show.
Unfortunately, no one is willing to take a chance on the Muppets or their show, so the group go their separate ways, leaving Kermit the Frog in New York to search for a backer on his own.
THE MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN is presented in Dolby Digital monaural, which is a bit disappointing, since this is supposed to be a musical.
