 ESPN NBA 2K5 Review (Xbox)
ESPN NBA 2K5 returns from a successful season last year, bringing a few new moves to the court.
As before ESPN NBA 2K5 allows a wide array of gameplay options including simple-to-use sliders which can severely change the style of the action.
ESPN NBA can be played in an arcade style with fatigue and injuries off, or in a full simulation mode which will allow players to suck wind and blow out medial collateral ligaments.

 3DAvenue.com - Content for the All-Round Gamer
ESPN NBA 2K5 is a great game that unfortunately came along three months after NBA Live.
The players you use are from the NBA line ups although as you would expect they are in normal clothing rather than uniforms and give smack talk due to the lack of commentary.
The ESPN license (which they are about to lose, sadly) is really what makes the game so great in terms of aesthetics.

ESPN NBA 2K5 - XBox Review
So while ESPN NBA 2K5 didn't make me forget the cold snow caked on all the outdoor basketball courts in my area, it didn't disappoint me as much as I originally thought either.
As good as the gameplay is, the controls in ESPN NBA 2K5 are awful.
I did notice a bug when I was playing ESPN NBA 2K5, where the computer doesn't call the timeouts when trailing at the end of a close game.

ESPN NBA 2K5 First Impression - ESPN NBA 2K5 Previews for PlayStation 2 at GameSpot
By using NBA 2K5's "full authority" simulation mode, you will still be able to simulate one or more games, but, much like a coach mode in a football title, you can have indirect input in the outcome of your simmed games.
The NBA season is just around the corner, which means another season of Vlade Divac flopping on the hardwood every time the likes of Earl Boykins breathes on him.
In previous versions of the NBA 2K series (and in most sports game franchise modes, for that matter), simulating games you don't want to play leaves you with minimal control over their outcomes.

ESPN NBA 2K5 Review from GameZone.com
ESPN NBA 2K5 is the sequel to what I considered to be the best basketball game for a home console since Double Dribble back in the old NES Days.
NBA 2K5 does the opposite – over-pressing buttons kills your chances at stopping the defender more than Jayson Williams kills limo drivers.
Unlike NBA Live, there’s only one shoot button (X) and it’s situational – running towards the hoop with an open lane will result in a dunk or lay-up, and incorporating the left thumbstick allows players to shoot fadeaway J’s or leaners.

ESPN NBA 2K5 makes fast break for retail - PlayStation 2 News at GameSpot
ESPN Videogames is the official brand for the lineup of sports titles developed by Visual Concepts, published by Sega, and distributed by Take-Two.
ESPN Videogames announced today that its basketball title, ESPN NBA 2K5, has gone gold and will ship to retail stores tomorrow.
That company's basketball title, NBA Live 2005, was also originally slated to ship on October 5 but was going to do so at an MSRP of $49.99.

Games Asylum - ESPN NBA 2K5
ESPN NBA 2K5 comes from the latter camp, though it too has a street mode.
There's the nonsensical - including NBA Jam, NBA Street and NBA Ballers - and the serious - like EA's NBA Live and the stupidly titled NCAA March Madness.
It's not unlike a football management sim, although you can play matches yourself and enter a 'full authority' mode which is reminiscent of an RTS in the way you bark orders to your team.

ESPN NBA 2005 Sony Play Station 2 Video Game Review by AceGamez
ESPN NBA 2005 is a feature rich basketball game, with most of the trimmings and conveniently released before NBA Street Volume 3, a game that I really cannot wait for.
I kept on dreaming of the NBA Street multiplayer madness we all used to play around the TV, but ESPN just didn't compare to the fun, fast and frantic action.
Even if you are used to the joys of NBA Street, this game will tide you over until the next one is released and for the price it really is a great purchase.

ESPN NBA 2K5 xbox review. ESPN NBA 2K5 is Developed by and published in the UK by Take-Two Interactive
Bringing with it another head-to-head showdown between ESPN and EA, ESPN NBA 2K5 has been shipped to stores full of new content and with a fantastic simulation-style basketball experience that is graphically appealing.
2K5 does have its weaknesses, however the strengths of ESPN 2K5's on-court gameplay significantly outweigh its few weaknesses and unfortunately for European gamers the biggest being the omission of LIVE multiplayer.
2K5 have also improved on the realism of game play from last year, as players will now catch passes in stride which overall makes the game more fluid, much like a real game of basketball.

Xbox.com :: Lifestyle: Fun With Friends: ESPN NBA 2K5 24/7
ESPN NBA 2K5 is a lot of online basketball bang for your buck—even if you don’t have a rich uncle.
Like all of the ESPN Videogames' Xbox® offerings this year, you get a fully Xbox Live™-enabled game for only a couple of sawbucks (what the lawyers like to call an MSRP of $19.99).
This mode was a new arrival for SEGA’s franchise last year, coming at the same time as the ESPN license, and it was a nice arcade-friendly break from the sim-intensive franchise and league play modes.

PALgaming - ESPN NBA 2K5 Review - For Platforms: PS2, Xbox
The 2K5 edition of ESPN NBA has seen a lot of tweaks to the gameplay some for the better and some for the worse.
ESPN NBA 2K5 features a host of gameplay tweaks and additions but is it enough to knock EA out of the game?
Like ESPN NFL 2K5, the game introduces some new moves that can aid you in getting past your opponents such as spinning, backing into players, shoulder and step drops to trick the opponent plus a new pro hop/drop step button which allows you to get closer to the basket for a dunk or lay-up.

Inside Hotwire 3D - Reviews: Xbox - ESPN NBA 2K5
Despite these minor setbacks, ESPN NBA 2K5 is still a hot commodity and could easily be considered as one of the excellent sport games created this year.
NBA hoop fans would surely love this game in comparison to the ones offered out there.
ESPN NBA 2K5 has improved considerably since its first debut.

 » ESPN NBA 2K5
ESPN NBA 2K5 tops all the components of NBA Live 2005 except for the slam dunk contest in NBA Live, which isn't anything special.
Without ESPN in league with Sega and Visual Concepts, this award would be a lot harder for the 2K5 series to grab a hold of.
There is no comparison between NBA Live, because for the past 2 years, there have been no show of improvement from the lack of depth the graphics express.

ESPN NBA 2K5 - xbox Review - Game Revolution
Taking a cue from NBA Live, ESPN now includes a pro hop button that allows you to either make a two-footed hop into the lane or a groovy spin to bounce off defenders.
ESPN NBA 2K5 doesn’t take any big risks, sticking pretty closely to the elements that made its predecessor successful.
By and large, the gameplay of ESPN NBA 2K5 is much as it was in last year’s game.

But in the extra game modes, "ESPN NBA" doesn't compare to "Live." This is where the champ dunks all over the challenger.
"ESPN NBA" is a worthy challenger to "NBA Live," the undisputed king of basketball video gaming.
For instance, in "2K5," when cover boy and Pistons star Ben Wallace scores at the Palace, the Big Ben gong goes off.

As in the previous year's game however, NBA 2K5 gets the full-on, TV-style, ESPN treatment, complete with new camera angles, statistical analysis and overlays, and courtside commentary from Hall of Famer Bill Watson.
Following the lead of ESPN's earlier seasonal releases, ESPN NFL 2K5 and ESPN NHL 2K5, the title of this year's basketball release reminds gamers of its developer's past hits, with a return to Visual Concept's "2K5" naming scheme.
The new "Next Movement" system is designed to account for each individual NBA player's skills and abilities, in several different areas.

ESPN NBA 2K5 offers all the modes you've come to expect from a modern day game of hoops including practice, street, exhibition, season, online and an improved 24/7 mode.
When the final buzzer sounds, ESPN NBA 2K5 is easily worth the twenty dollar price tag and provides the most complete basketball experience in the series thus far.
That's the mantra being touted by the folks behind ESPN NBA 2K5 and after locking myself in the gym with their game for over a week, I would have to agree.

You’ll love the ESPN televised presentation as the logo swooshes across the screen and sideline reporter Michele Tafoya catching reactions from the coach as well as players.
Yes, I love the ESPN NBA game and that’s not easy to say because EA Sports has a very attractive and engaging brother by the name of NBA Live 2005.
Association basically centers on the personalities that make up the NBA and as it takes you and your favorite team through the serious competitions that make up the sport’s seasons, you’ll come to know what it’s like to deal with a team.

 IGN: ESPN NBA 2K5 Review
Most recent posts on the ESPN NBA Basketball (NBA 2K) board:
This year's attempt, ESPN NBA 2K5 is a confounding mix of good, bad, and just plain stupid.
Defense and teamwork should be the keys to NBA 2K5, but instead it is once again more of an offensive show.

Since Big Ben Wallace, centerpiece of the Pistons' defensive juggernaut, is the cover man for ESPN NBA 2K5, let's start by taking a look at the defensive game.
Like the Los Angeles Lakers, Visual Concepts' ESPN NBA basketball series has spent quite a few years lording over their competition.
However, all dynasties must come to an end, and just as the Lakers were taken down by the Pistons in this year's NBA Finals, the ESPN series must withstand a charge from EA's NBA Live 2005, which features an innovative dunk system and a deep dynasty mode.

 PlayMoreConsoles.com Review ESPN NBA 2K5
Graphically, ESPN NBA 2K5 continues to put out great-looking sports games from Visual Concepts.
In NBA 2K5, you are allowed to play a little more freely, so crossing over your defender to get your shot is a workable option.
The basic game is the same, so you create a player, train him, and go up against NBA players in minigames for ranking, items, and respect.

Gamers Europe » Sony » Review » ESPN NBA 2K5
One of the most impressive aspects of NBA 2K5 is the graphics.
There's no risk of being drowned in strategies and controls, basketball is a fun and simple game, and NBA 2K5 mirrors this - it’s easily accessible and there's no trouble in getting into a satisfying groove.
The gameplay dynamic in NBA 2K5 might not be as pumping as its stablemates, but this thoughtful edge to the gameplay ends up as a positive game.
