Bob Costas was the perfect host for the NBA on NBC because of his encyclopedic knowledge, wit, and ability to involve his studio analysts in the flow of pregame and halftime discussions.
The NBA on NBC is the all time greatest show ever, with it’s great graphics, really catchy theme music that you could never get enough of, Marv Albert doing play by play for the majority of the years, and of course Michael Jordan and the Bulls.

First it was NBA Jam, which arrived on the Genesis, SNES, Gameboy, and Sega Gamegear.
I also loved the opening FMV with the NBA on NBA tune and all the highlights shown definite plus.
In the end I wasn't much disappointed with NBA Showtime, the game featured that same great gameplay that made NBA Jam what it is today.

NBA Showtime is from a long line of Midway arcade sports games stretching all the way back to the granddaddy of them all, the original NBA Jam.
I recall a particularly bad version of NBA Jam for the Saturn, where the players were fuzzy and the movement of the camera made good gameplay more art and luck than skill.
NBA Showtime continues that tradition (although some people will toggle the announcer off).
