The Naked Gun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The three films (the other two being The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear, and The Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult) chronicle the adventures of Nielsen's character, the bumbling police detective Lieutenant Frank Drebin.
The 2005 "PTV" episode of Family Guy parodied the Naked Gun films, namely the first scene in the first Naked Gun film in which Drebin spies on a terrorist meeting and starts a brawl.
Of course, this is completely impossible since, when a gun is fired, the lead bullet leaves the barrel and the casing is discarded.

Now, with The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear, that lunatic tradition is continued, with Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen), the soft-boiled Police Lieutenant with the deadpan delivery, embroiled in an irrelevant plot about some political campaign for clean energy.
Although The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear is far from being brilliantly conceived, the way in which Hapsburg buys the farm is, and is worth the price of admission alone.
A minor criticism with The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear is the way in which characters often react to an on-screen witticism by moving their eyes from side to side in bewilderment.

In my opinion naked gun is brilliant, thats pretty vague, but for me it has to be spontaneous humor that gets me, things that you think should go really smoothly but thanks to Frank Drebin often never does.
Naked gun is based on the TV series Police Squad, and each film Frank Drebin and his team have to solve a certain crime, and following a strict police code *sarcasm* to solve the crime results in instant laughs.

Paramount conceded that the Naked Gun ad targeted the Leibovitz photograph, but claimed that the ad was a parody and a fair use of the photograph.
Paramount claimed that the ad was linked to the themes of marriage and childbearing that are central to the movie's plot (as opposed to the theme of a mad bomber blowing up the Academy Awards ceremony).
The court also looked at the potential market harm caused by the Paramount ad and determined that there was no adverse effect on the sale or licensing of the Liebovitz photograph after the publication of the Paramount ad.

"The Naked Gun" follows the adventures of Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen), a Los Angeles detective, along with partners Nordberg (O.J. Simpson) and Ed (the ever-game George Kennedy), as they try to foil a plot to assassinate the Queen of England during an official visit.
Z-A-Z's humor is rooted in the painful antics of the Three Stooges and the deadpan Pink Panther movies, but they are otherwise cheerfully catholic in their approach to comedy, with absurdity, puns, spoof, slapstick and satire vying for attention at any given moment, and often simultaneously.
But the "Naked Gun" crew's aim is to make people laugh; at a test screening, they find out in a fundamental way whether they did a good job.
