	RTE News - Water loss at Aquatic Centre
		Opposition parties have described the €62m National Aquatic Centre in Dublin as a costly shambles after its operators confirmed that the facility is leaking significant amounts of water.

		Dublin Waterworld, which runs the NAC, said the extent of the leakage came to light when the centre was closed at the beginning of this year due to storm damage.

		PacificSport Victoria, the national training centre which is home to numerous Summer Olympians, has called a press conference Tuesday and is expected to announce it has secured the provincial portion of funding for its ambitious $36 million expansion plans in conjunction with Camosun College's Interurban campus.

		In March 2003 CSID awarded the contract to operate the National Aquatic Centre to Dublin Waterworld Ltd on a 30-year lease.
		A High Court judge has said it is nothing short of astonishing that the lease for the National Aquatic Centre, a State asset worth €62m, was granted to Dublin Waterworld Ltd, a company which has paid no rent in over two years.
		CSID is the State company responsible for the site at Abbotstown in Dublin and its shareholding is held by the Taoiseach, the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism.

		The builders of the â¬62 million centre, Rohcon, said in a statement that there was no water leaking from the pools in the centre.
		Laywers for the owners of the centre say the company which runs it, Dublin Waterworld, sent them a fax stating that they did not give them enough notice of the inspection.

		CSID is suing the operators, Dublin Waterworld, for control of the centre, claiming it has failed to comply with its contract on a number of basic issues, such as paying rent and maintaining the facility.
