	Captain Planet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Captain Planet is often referred to as a superhero as he is a caricature of nobility, wears a flamboyant costume and has many superpowers.
		Captain Planet is formed by combining the powers of the rings of the five Planeteers, which represented the four Classical elements: Earth (wielded by Kwame), Fire (Wheeler), Wind (Linka), Water (Gi) -- and the additional power of Heart (Ma-ti).
		Captain Planet has a very impressive array of powers: He can fly, has great strength, the ability to blow hurricane force winds, telepathy, telekinesis, can change shape, transmute matter, and virtually any other super-power required by the circumstances currently facing him, which, in fact was one of the criticisms against the show.

		Captain Planet and the Planeteers is an American animated elemental television series created by Ted Turner and produced by Jane Fonda and Nicholas Boxer to promote environmentalism.
		The Planeteers used transportation based on solar power in order to avoid causing pollution themselves (the origin of the vehicles was never explained—conjecture exists that the vehicles may have been sent from the future, given the rampant use of time travel in later seasons).
		Some feel that Captain Planet's presence in the show undermines its message of environmental activism, as the Planeteers are given a "genie" they can call to solve their problems for them.
