THE NEW ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE POOH is based on A.A. Milne's Pooh character and Pooh's well-known animal friends who live together in the Hundred Acre Wood.
Although these are supposed to be the "new" adventures, the lessons are just as classic and time-tested as the characters.
Kids will be drawn to these characters because their personalities are so distinct: Pooh (voiced by Jim Cummings) is still simple and loves "hunny"; Eeyore (Peter Cullen) is still charming in a self-effacing sort of way; Rabbit (Ken Sansom) is still a little stand-offish and impatient.

From my experience, Winnie the Pooh since the 90's has appealed to more girls than boys, and that by replacing Christopher with Darby (who oddly looks more anime than Disney) you're killing off any chance of ever fetching new fans that are boys and that are proud to say they like Pooh Bear.

The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is an American animated television series made by The Walt Disney Company, and inspired by A.
In addition to Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, Eeyore, Owl, Kanga, Roo, and Christopher Robin, there are also new characters that were not in Milne's stories, such as Gopher, Christopher Robin's mother, Owl's cousin Dexter, Kessie the Bluebird, Junior Heffalump (and his parents), Skippy the Sheepdog, Stan Woozle and Heff Heffalump, and other characters.
One notable difference between the television series and the Pooh movies is that on the television program, Christopher Robin speaks with a distinctly American accent, it is the first time since the original version of Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree; in the films, he has an English accent.

Another example of this is shown in Benjamin Hoff's books, The Tao of Pooh (1982) and The Te of Piglet (1992), when Hoff replaces Milne as the author/narrator and has discussions with these two characters.
