China is to build a museum to display the cultural relics found in the world-famous "Sutras Cave " of Mogao Grotto in Dunhuang, in west China's Gansu province.
The museum, scheduled for opening in July, will be built on the former residence of Taoist Wang Yuanlu, who found the Cave by chance about 100 years ago.
The museum is to exhibit about 1,000 cultural antiques found in the "Sutras Cave" together with other replicas, introduction charts and graphs, video materials and computer search services.

The New Brunswick Museum was officially incorporated as the "Provincial Museum" in 1929 and received its current name in 1930, but its history goes back much further.
On April 5, 1842, Dr. Abraham Gesner opened the Museum of Natural History, the original precursor of the New Brunswick Museum, in one room of the Mechanics' Institute on Carleton St., Saint John, N.B. Unfortunately, income from his newly-founded museum was not enough to solve Gesner's financial problems.
By 1992, the museum had outgrown its Douglas Avenue location and plans were made to develop new exhibition galleries in a central Saint John location.

It is important to keep the museum as close to the Acropolis as possible, but any area near the Acropolis is almost certain to produce important archaeological finds when fully excavated.

It was donated to the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild, which moved the structure eight miles to the new site.
The site was donated by Myrtle Beach Farms Co, but moving the 150-ton, 48' X 80' house in 1984 caused one of two trucks to rear up on its back wheels, breaking an axle.

The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport is the companion facility to the Museum on the National Mall.
The building opened in December, 2003, and provides enough space for the Smithsonian to display the thousands of aviation and space artifacts that cannot be exhibited on the National Mall.
Among the aviation artifacts on display are the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, the fastest jet in the world; the Boeing Dash 80, the prototype of the 707; the Boeing B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay; and the deHavilland Chipmunk aerobatic airplane.

Victoria Newhouse's book on recent museum design is fascinating--I have been to many of the projects she includes (there are lots and lots of them), and her descriptions and analyses of them never fail to strike me as remarkably insightful.
I don't always agree with her comments or her selection of projects (Frank Stella should stick to painting), but as a whole the book is both a wide-ranging compendium of current designs for the visual arts, and an informed treatise with a strong point of view.
