The Inner Light (TNG episode) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Inner Light is an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the penultimate episode of its fifth season.
The episode is considered by many fans to be the most touching of the series' episodes, particularly those where Jean-Luc Picard has the primary role.
The episode's title is derived from the George Harrison song, "The Inner Light," which was the B-side song of The Beatles' single "Lady Madonna."

I, Borg (TNG episode) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"I, Borg" was an episode of the television show Star Trek: The Next Generation in which a member of the dangerous cybernetic race known as the Borg is captured by the crew and examined.
Given that the Federation is technically at war with the Borg (despite an absence of official declaration on their part), the crew are initially wary of the rescued Borg.
The idea of using it as a weapon of mass destruction is one of the central themes of the episode with Picard and the crew considering sending back Hugh to destroy and/or cripple the Borg.

Star Trek: The Next Generation (also known as ST:TNG or TNG) is set nearly a century later and features a new starship (also named Enterprise (An organization created for business ventures)) and a new crew.
Star Trek: The Next Generation was the highest rated of all the Star Trek series, and was the number one syndicated show during the last few years of its original run.
In the first episode, the crew discovers the presence of a nearby stable wormhole (Hole made by a burrowing worm) which provides immediate travel to and from the distant Gamma Quadrant (additional info and facts about Gamma Quadrant).

The series has had a barrage of standout episodes, whether it was with suspenseful ventures into the unknown (the first appearance of the Borg) to the ultimate cliffhanger in The Best of Both Worlds, The Next Generation was an exercise in masterful storytelling and vivid characterization.
I have only seen one episode of Enterprise (and clearly, it didn't make much of an impression on me), but I had sporadically watched DS9 and Voyager, enough to know neither of them were overall quite as compelling as TNG (the only aspect they definitely had over TNG were in the sets and visual effects).
The new episode should have served as a way of spotlighting several of the new crew, but all it did was show them all in heat.

They were introduced in "Schisms" [TNG] but they've shown up in "Force of Nature" [TNG], and a tetryon field is the result of an metaphasic shield interaction in "Suspicions" [TNG].
Given the way the name is used in various episodes, it appears to be a coherent technology exploiting a feature of the universe (a la warp) not just anything faster than warp.
The only hint that TOS, the classic films, and TNG warp drives might be different is in their visual appearance on screen - in the classic films the Enterprise "blurs" while in warp.

In "Relics" [TNG], we see that by keeping the transport controller locked in a diagnostic loop, pattern degradation is kept to a minimum - even with an old-style transporter, only 0.003% of the pattern was lost after 75 years in stasis.
In "Realm of Fear" [TNG], the most extraordinary development is the reconstruction of the lost crew, and their appearance as the giant slugs while in transport.
In "Data's Day" [TNG], the use of a subspace carrier wave was mentioned as the method by which the transporter beam propagates.

In one episode, Geordi and Ensign Ro are 'phase-shifted' so that they cannot interact with physical objects or be seen/heard by the crew.
The episode is called "The Next Phase." Actually, you can kinda/maybe assume that there is air in their alternate phase, and the same gravity that keeps regular folks from floating around in the "normal" phase bleeds over and keeps them from going through floors and stuff.

Since their alteration from TOS to TNG is not as significant as that of the Klingons and above all it was never mentioned that there was actually a change, we might be able to ignore it nonetheless.
If we compare the initial TNG make-up to that of the now more familiar Bajorans of DS9, we can see one notable dissimilarity: All TNG Bajorans without exception have two small bulges right above their eyebrows that is missing in the DS9 version, and likewise in the TNG make-up of the seventh season.
The one from TNG would seem to be much closer related to humans than to the one from DS9.

I was watching the TNG episode "The New Phase" today, and several questions came to mind.
Well, another "eh" explanation for the breathing could be that for some reason the chroniton particles created by the phase cloaking caused the air molecules to phase cloak themselves within a certain radius of the person.
I guess with personal phase cloaking being a more or less established treknology we have to assume that the engineers who developped it, must've thought about those problems and found a solution.

Some of the best moments in the episode are as the two of them argue over whether or not they are dead and what they are supposed to do if that is indeed the case.
This is an above average episode, with the interplay between Michelle Forbes and LaVar Burton (it is so nice to see somebody really get under Geordi´s skin and who gives better than she gets) overcoming the gaping holes in the whole being out of phase idea (they walk through walls but not through floors).
In that regard "The Next Phase" does signal a larger acceptance of Ensign Ro by the Enterprise crew, since the natural inclination is to focus on the good points of someone when you think they are dead.
