Burton first took the director's chair for the TNG episode "Second Chances," the first of over two dozen various episodes he's directed for the franchise.
O.K., the list could go on and we could talk about guest stars like Andrew Robinson ("Garak") directing (DS9's "Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places" and Voyager's "Blood Fever" and "Unforgettable") or even famous offspring directing (Adam Nimoy did "Rascals" and "Timescape" for TNG), but we'd better stop while we can.
The U.S.S. Enterprise-D's resident Chief Medical Officer took a spin behind the lens with the truly harrowing episode "Genesis." McFadden has pointed out that she was very experienced as a theatre director and choreographer, both of which helped her to understand the process and the art of directing for television.

TNG - Captain Jean Luc Picard
My favorite episode is "The Offspring" because it represents all of the things that we have always tried to do on STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION.
Picard played the piano when he was young ("Lessons" [TNG]), but his deep love of music may have stemmed from an incident in 2368 when his mind received a lifetime of memories from the now-dead planet Kataan, and he experienced the life of a man named Kamin, who died a thousand years ago.
This particular show garnered impressive enough ratings to place it among the top five episodes for the 93/94 season, a further testament to Patrick's enormous span of appeal.
