What makes this Bad Company tour in question so special is that it will feature the classic lineup of Rodgers, Ralphs, drummer Simon Kirke and bassist Boz Burrell that debuted in 1974 as the first act on Led Zeppelin's Swan Song label.
Take away the original six albums released by the quartet, and classic rock radio as we know it would declare a state of emergency: songs like "Ready For Love," "Movin' On," "Rock and Roll Fantasy" and "Shooting Star" are as vital to the format as any contributions from Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac or the Eagles.
It was to that end that Rodgers and Ralphs reassembled the original pack last November to record four new songs for the double disc anthology, The 'Original' Bad Company Anthology.

After 1977's Burnin' Sky, Bad Company recorded 1979's Desolation Angels, which embellished the group's sound with synthesizers and strings; a three-year hiatus followed before the release of Rough Diamonds, the group's final LP in its original incarnation.
Two more LPs -- 1995's The Company of Strangers and the next year's Stories Told and Untold -- followed, and in 1998 the original lineup of Rodgers, Ralphs, Kirke, and Burrell reunited to record a handful of new tracks that surfaced alongside past material early the following year on The Original Bad Company Anthology.

Bad Company were resurrected in 1986 by Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke, recruiting guitar stalwart Dave "Bucket" Colwell and Brian Howe on vocals.
I guess for someone who's intimately  familiar with the original recordings, the only real criticism is that the guitar sounds a little thin - although 'Bucket' gives the daunting task of playing lead and rhythm his best shot, there's no doubt that the sparkle and innovation of Mick Ralphs' lead is missed.

I kinda miss the "supergroup." A phenomenon of the late 60's, mainly, supergroups were formed when a bunch of guys from already famous groups got together in a new group (often at the instigation of their record companies) and almost invariably destroyed their previously vaunted individual reputations.
Anyway, Bad Company was just such a supergroup, but while they always had a cloud of opportunism hanging over them, they but they were never all that bad.
Their first album, Bad Co. (1974), is a thrill ride of hooks and riffs, and the next two, Straight Shooter (1975) and Running With Pack (1976), each carry a lot of weight.

The only guitarist to appear on every Bad Company album is the redoubtable Mick Ralphs, whose on-the-money sledgemhammer riffs were already known by serious fans of rock guitar prior to the formation of the band in the mid ’70s.
Ralphs was the original lead guitarist for the legendary British band Mott the Hoople, and his blistering, powerchord-based chops were a staple of that band’s first half-dozen albums.
The original Bad Company earned its place in rock history by purveying straight-ahead songs that still hold up, and the new anthology CD and tour were affirmation of the band’s staying power in the annals of rock music.
